摘要: A power system energy management system with security constrained automatic generation control (SCAGC) is disclosed wherein the power generation output and branch power flow are constrained by security limit. A sub-optimization model is used to calculate SCAGC for each control area in parallel. Graph computing is applied to solve the SCAGC by simplex approach in hierarchical parallel and nodal parallel. The SCAGC is solved heuristically first by combining the equal incremental fuel cost ratio and generation shift factor, and if the heuristics do not converge, a simplex method is used to solve the SCAGC.

摘要: A method of treating and preventing a neurological disorder, such as Alzheimer's disease, in a subject in need thereof by positioning an electromagnetic field emitting source proximal to the subject and exposing the subject to an electromagnetic field having a predetermined frequency (preferably ≈300-3,000 MHz) for a predetermined absorption period (preferably greater than ≈3 days). Each individual treatment (comprising exposure to the predetermined frequency for the predetermined absorption period) is continued at a predetermined schedule for a predetermined treatment period. The EMF can have a specific absorption rate up to about 8 W/kg. The methodology enhances cognition in the subject and/or treats/prevents the underlying neurological disorder or a symptom thereof.

摘要: Administration of human umbilical cord blood cells (HUCBC) or HUCBC-derived plasma is used to treat amyloid-based diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and type-II diabetes. Modulating inflammatory reactions by infusing HUCBC resulted in a marked reduction of amyloid plaques and immune-associated cellular damage. HUCBC infusion also significantly reduced cerebral amyloid angiopathy in mice models. These effects were associated with suppression of the CD40-CD40L interaction and a reduction in surface expressed CD-40 was observed on immune cells. Further, Aβ phagocytic activity was increased and soluble and insoluble Aβ protein levels were modulated by treatment. HUCBC-infused sera also significantly increased phagocytosis of Aβ1-42 peptide and inhibited immune cell CD40 expression and reduced cerebral amyloid angiopathy.

摘要: The invention relates to treatment of neurodegenerative diseases with JAK/STAT pathway inhibitors to eliminate extracellular cell signaling events leading to cell cycle abrogation and/or apoptosis. Primary neurons were administered neurotoxic proteins, such as gp120, Tat, or gp120 and Tat, with or without IFN-γ added, resulting in neuronal death, and simulated neurodegenerative diseases. The neurodegenerative disease is treated using a JAK/STAT pathway inhibitor, including (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), to modulate JAK1 or STAT1 phosphorylation, resulting in resistance to gp120 or Tat neurotoxicity. The invention may be used to treat neurons afflicted with HIV-associated Dementia, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Pick's Disease, and may act in conjunction with antiviral treatment, like HAART.

摘要: The flavonoid luteolin reduces amyloid-β peptide (Aβ) generation. Luteolin is also a selective GSK-3 inhibitor that 1) decreases amyloidogenic γ-secretase APP processing, and 2) promotes presenilin 1 (PS1) carboxyl-terminal fragment (CTF) phosphorylation. GSK-3α activity is essential for both PS1 CTF phosphorylation states and PS1-APP interaction. These findings were validated in vivo, using a Tg2576 Alzheimer's Disease model system. Luteolin treatment decreased soluble Aβ levels, reduced GSK-3 activity, and disrupted PS1-APP association. In addition, Tg2576 mice treated with diosmin, a glycoside of a flavone structurally and functionally similar to luteolin (diosmetin), displayed significantly reduced Aβ pathology as well.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for estimating a clock skew. The method comprises: obtaining a basic clock skew of each clock tree in the circuit; judging whether two units are in a same clock domain; if they are in different clock domains, estimating the clock skew between units to be a larger one of basic clock skews of the clock trees corresponding to these two unit; if these two units are in the same clock domain, further judging whether they are in a same hierarchical logic block; if they are in different hierarchical logic blocks, estimating the clock skew between units to be the basic clock skew of the clock tree of these two units plus additional clock skew caused by different hierarchical logic blocks. The apparatus is corresponding to the method. With the method and apparatus, the clock skew in the circuit can be estimated more accurately, which improves the efficiency of circuit design.
