摘要:
An optical fiber connector includes a number of optical fibers, a body, a number of supports and a cover. The body includes a number of lens portions at a first end thereof, a number of through holes at an opposite second end, and a recess located between the lens portions and the through holes. The through holes are in communication with the recess. The optical fibers extend through the respective through holes and terminate at the respective lens portions. The supports are formed in the recess. Each support supports and retains a portion of the corresponding optical fiber exposed in the recess. The cover is received in the recess. The cover has a number of slanted faces spatially corresponding to the respective supports. The slanted faces and the supports cooperatively securely sandwich the exposed portions of the optical fibers in the body.

A method for verifying tolerance of a connector molding die includes, firstly, providing a first connector molding die, and molding a first optical connector using the first connector molding die. The centers of the lenses relative to the center of the first transmission surface are located. A second connector molding die is provided. A second optical connector is molded by the second connector molding die. The central locations of the first blind holes are determined by measuring the central locations of the second blind holes based on the center of the second transmission surface. Difference values between the locations of the centers of the lenses and the central locations of the first blind holes are determined.

A mold for molding an optical fiber connector having a number of lens portions with a flat surface or a curved surface, is provided. The mold includes an upper molding portion, a lower molding portion, a first insert, a number of second inserts and a fixing portion. The first insert includes a number of curved molding portions and a flat molding portion. The upper molding portion, the lower molding portion, the first insert and the fixing portion cooperatively define a molding space. A distal end of each second insert is inserted into the molding space. The first insert is moveable relative to the second insert such that the curved molding portions or the flat molding portion is selectively exposed in the molding space and is opposite to the distal ends of the second inserts.

An optical fiber connector includes a connector body and a lens block. The connector body defines a number of blind holes and a receiving room. The blind holes opens towards a first side of the connector body. The receiving room opens towards an opposing second side of the connector body The lens block includes a body portion and a number of protruding portions extending from a first side of the body portion. The lens block is received in the receiving room. The protruding portions are positioned between the body portion and the blind holes. The protruding portions are aligned with the respective blind holes. The body portion has a flat second side face free of protruding portions thereon, at an opposite side thereof to the protruding portions.

An exemplary fiber optic connector includes four converging lenses and a main body. The four converging lenses each includes a base portion and two engaging portions protruding from the base portion. The main body includes a first surface and a second surface at two opposite sides thereof. The first surface has four first receiving holes defined therein for receiving four respective optical fibers. The second surface has four second receiving holes aligning with the four respective first receiving holes defined therein. In addition, the main body defines an inner surface in each second receiving hole and two first slots in the inner surface. Each second receiving hole is configured for fixedly receiving the base portion of corresponding converging lens with the two engaging portions engaging in the two first slots.

A method for isolating nucleic acids is provided. The method includes providing a biological sample containing at least one nucleic acid, and mixing the biological sample with an isolating agent under a suitable condition to isolate the nucleic acids from the biological sample in single step, wherein the isolating agent contains 1-40 wt % of PEG and/or more than 30 wt % of low molecular weight alcohol, a salt, and a detergent. Isolated nucleic acids are bound to a solid support by changes in the solubility of nucleic acids. Additionally, the present invention further provides an isolating agent and kit for isolating nucleic acids.
