摘要: An alternating current power electronic converter includes an alternating current chopper circuit including two pairs of switches, each switch of a pair connected in series and the two pairs of switches connected in parallel. Each switch of a pair is a uni-directional switch. The uni-directional switches of each pair are arranged in opposing directions, and the uni-directional switches of one pair of switches are arranged in an opposing configuration to the uni-directional switches of the other pair of switches. The circuit comprises a bridge connection between switches of each pair of switches. A controller is configured to control a sequence of operation of the switches, providing an overlap period whenever one of the switches of a pair changes from open to closed and the other switch of the pair changes from closed to open. During the overlap period the switch that is moving from closed to open remains closed.

摘要: A needle guide system for use with an ultrasound probe, the system comprising a surface marking guide and a needle guide. The surface marking guide includes an attachment portion for attaching the marking guide to an ultrasound probe, and a surface contact portion fixed to the attachment portion and including one or more features for identifying to a user where to mark a surface when the ultrasound probe is held against the surface. The needle guide includes a base to support the needle guide on the surface, one or more features on the base for alignment with marks made on the surface, and a needle support mounted on the base and having a needle channel through which a needle can extend, the needle channel having a known position and orientation relative to the base. We also describe a needle guide for use with an ultrasound probe to guide a needle along a predetermined path relative to the ultrasound probe.

摘要: A method of assembling an opto-physiological (OP) sensor comprises: (i) modelling the opto-physiological properties of at least one body tissue type to be monitored; (ii) determining, through application of the model, an optimal optical design for an opto-physiological (OP) sensor operable to monitor the opto-physiological properties of the at least one body tissue type; and (iii) making the OP sensor to the determined optical design. The optimal optical design for the OP sensor comprises: (i) determining the optimum separation of each of a plurality of light sources from a photodetector, based on modelled optical path lengths for light travelling from each light source, through the body tissue type to be monitored, to the photodetector; and (ii) locating light sources of different wavelengths at different distances from the photodetector.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for sensing hydrogen in a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas are provided. One example of the apparatus comprises: a first chamber for receiving air; a second chamber for receiving the mixture of hydrogen and natural gas; a first electrode for adsorbing oxygen molecules from air in the first chamber and for reducing the oxygen molecules to oxide ions; a second electrode; an ionic conductor for transporting the oxide ions from the first electrode to the second electrode in order to cause the transported oxide ions to combine with hydrogen molecules at the second electrode; sensing circuitry for sensing an electrical parameter associated with the combination of the transported oxide ions with the hydrogen molecules at the second electrode; and processing circuitry configured to determine a proportion of hydrogen in the mixture, based at least in part on the electrical parameter sensed by the sensing circuitry.
