Abstract:
A skimmer having an upper chamber with a floating weircontrolled inlet, a lower chamber for holding a leaf basket, and a lateral chamber for a main drain connection, is provided with a rotary valve diaphragm cover for the lower chamber and a plug valve for the lateral chamber. By adjusting the two valves to different combinations of positions, the skimmer can be utilized to set the circulatory system of the pool for 1) normal skimming, 2) application of suction to the main drain in the pool bottom, for jet sweeping operation, or 3) vacuuming.
Abstract:
A pool cleaner of the type utilizing scouring jet hoses automatically extensible from tubular housings when subjected to pressurized water flow, and retractable in response to reversal from pressure to suction, wherein the housings are contained in the bond beam of the pool and connected to the pool by short radius bends, the rear ends of the hoses being pistons which are pivotally attached thereto so as to traverse said bends without binding therein.
Abstract:
A pressure-responsive switch senses the rising back pressure in a sand filter caused by debris collected in the filter, and at a predetermined pressure indicating the need for cleaning the filter, it triggers the reversal of valve means which reverses the flow in the filter and backwashes the debris into a separating tank where the debris is collected from the backwash flow which is then returned to the swimming pool. A timer controls the backwashing interval, at the end of which the valve is again reversed by a reversing mechanism, returning the system to normal filtering operation.
Abstract:
A WEIR OF FLEXIBLE, ELASTIC SHEET MATERIAL HAVING, ALONG ONE MARGIN THEREOF AN INTEGRAL OPEN SLEEVE WITH A LONGITUDINALLY EXTENDING GAP NARROWER THAN THE DIAMETER OF A PIVOT PIN ON WHICH THE WEIR IS FULCRUMED, IS ATTACTED TO THE PIN BY PRESSING THE MARGINS OF THE GAP AGAINST THE PIN TO SPRING OPEN THE SLEEVE AND RECEIVE THE PIN THEREWITHIN. THE PIN IS STIFF BUT FLEXIBLE TUBE WHICH IS MOUNTED BETWEEN OPPOSED WALLS OF A SKIMMER THROAT BY FLEXING IT TO SPRING ITS ENDS INTO SOCKETS IN SUCH WALLS.
