摘要: The invention relates to a system and method for treating wastewater onboard a marine vessel or other limited space application where wastewater treatment is required. In one embodiment of the invention, two polar opposite wastewater treatment processes are incorporated into the same treatment system. The system is a hybrid treatment unit that combines a conventional wastewater treatment using a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) process-based biological treatment unit in combination with a novel electrochemical advanced oxidation process (EAOP) via an in-situ sodium hypochlorite recirculation. The clarified and disinfected effluent from this hybrid treatment unit is filtered to remove residual TSS. The filtered and disinfected effluent is discharged after dechlorination/neutralization. On-site maintenance disinfectant can be produced via the electrochemical/electrochlorination/electro-oxidation process and used for both treatment unit cleaning and disinfection. Additionally, the treatment unit provides a wholly separate stream of electrolysis generated disinfectant for surface disinfection purposes.

摘要: A machine and process for remotely controlling a vessel. The system may include a land-based computing system configured to communicate control signals via a communications system that communicates the control signals to the vessel and a controller network on the vessel configured to control at least certain functions of the vessel. The controller network may further be configured to receive the control signals from the land-based computing system. The controller may include a switch including an input port and multiple output ports. A remote control computing device may be configured to control the vessel via at least one other computing device. A one-way Ethernet cable may be communicatively coupled between one of the output ports of the switch and the remote control computing device. The control signals may be received by the switch being communicated to the remote control computing device via the one-way Ethernet cable.

摘要: An advisory system of a vessel that monitors variables of a vessel system inclusive of systems and subsystems that are used to operate the vessel. The advisory system may use machine-learning to learn from an operator (i) whether or not two variables are related to one another, and (ii) likelihood that a variable will reach a threshold, and, optionally, time until reaching the threshold. The system may receive operator feedback (i) to indicate whether the two variables are related to one another, and (ii) whether a behavior of the variable is normal or not normal. Thereafter, if a determination that the same two variables are related to one another and behaving in a similar manner, provide notification to the operator of the behavior. In response to determining that the variable is behaving (e.g., trending) in a similar manner that is not normal, providing a notification to the operator.

摘要: A marine vessel including a hybrid propulsion system including one or more diesel engines and electrically-driven thrusters. A hybrid propulsion management system may be configured to manage the hybrid propulsion system during free-floating, stationary operations by executing an embedded power simulation and control function that performs a real-time simulation to determine minimum RPM requirements of the diesel engine(s) for each power bus (e.g., electrical buses to which the electrically-driven thrusters are electrically connected) to fulfill a stationary position holding objective by the hybrid propulsion system of the marine vessel. By determining minimum RPM requirements for the diesel engine(s), reduced fuel consumption and emissions may be achieved, while ensuring safety of the marine vessel, closely located structures, and people.

摘要: An integrated tow system may include one or more unmanned towboat modules that may be used to improve maneuvering of tows on an inland waterway, such as a river. To reduce environmental stresses on operators, a command module that includes control and communications equipment for controlling operation of the unmanned towboat modules may provide living quarters for the operators, but not include a propulsion system for maneuvering a tow. The control and communication equipment may monitor for rotation commands by an operator that exceed rotational capabilities of the unmanned towboat modules, and provide for non-linear controls that include changing position of a rotational point that is centrally located longitudinally along the tow so as to provide for 1:1 rotational control of the tow by a tow drive system (e.g., bow and stern unmanned towboat modules). River tracking and river parking features may be supported by the control and communications equipment.

摘要: A multi-fluid, high pressure pump with a modular configuration, capable of converting hydraulic power from a source may be capable of pumping nearly any type of fluid. The modular configuration may provide for individual sub-pump modules to be independently controlled by being individually network addressed, which allows for disabling a sub-pump module while continuing to operate the remaining sub-pump modules. In an embodiment, control of the sub-pump modules may be recomputed by evenly spacing a remaining number of sub-pump modules along a single period of a sine wave. Spare sub-pump modules may be included on a pump, thereby enable a spare sub-pump module to be added to the operable sub-pump modules so that full power of the pump may be available even after a sub-pump module fails.
