Abstract:
A transportable process platform is provided for maximizing process operations therefrom without exceeding transport weight requirement. Each platform supports a power unit comprising a driven component coupled to a lightweight radial engine. The radial engine is configurable with one or more supplemental cylinder rows to increase the power output to match the power demand of the driven equipment. The lightweight engine maximizes the power demand of the driven component until the weight of the power unit approaches the maximum payload weight of the platform. Operations requiring greater capacity that that provided by one platform only benefit from a minimum number of platforms, each having maximized power capacity.
Abstract:
A support system for a lubricator to prevent the lubricator from deflecting during coil tubing operations, particularly on slant wells. A support member is connected to the lubricator through truss members for supporting the lubricator in tension or in compression, depending upon whether the support member is placed above or below the lubricator. A coil tubing injector is provided which is capable of manipulating the supported lubricator axially along a path coaxial to the wellhead to permit fine adjustment with the wellhead.
Abstract:
Coiled tubing is provided with one or more conduits passing through and secured to an inner wall of the coiled tubing. The conduits are resistant to annealing temperatures and therefore are welded to flat plate which is used for forming the coiled tubing or are retained in a groove formed in the inner wall of the coiled tubing. When the coiled tubing is formed by rolling the flat plate into a slit tubular and seam welding the longitudinal joint, the coiled tubing and the heat resistant conduits are annealed. The conduit can be wireline, electric line, cable or an empty tubular, all of which are resistant to the annealing temperatures. The empty tubular can be used to retain a secondary conduit such as heat labile fiber optic cable which is run into the empty tubular, such as by pumping or floating, after the annealing process.
Abstract:
Coiled tubing with a secured conduit and a method for manufacturing same. A slickline held by a retainer is introduced to the coiled tubing manufacturing process by attaching the retainer and slickline to a metal plate, prior to the metal plate being welded into a tubular. The slickline is unaffected by the welding and heat treatment process or processes. To install the conduit into the coiled tubing, the coiled tubing is unrolled from the reel, the conduit is attached to an end of the slickline and the other end of the slickline pulled to fish the conduit through the coiled tubing, resulting in conduit held within the retainer inside the coiled tubing. In embodiments where a slickline is not used, the conduit can be pumped into the retainer or dropped therein by gravity when the coiled tubing is hung in a wellbore. Alternatively, a heat resistant conduit may be secured within the coiled tubing by attachment directly to the coiled tubing or held therein by a retainer.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided relating to bottom hole assemblies (BHA) for the isolation and treatment of selected zones using an uphole and a downhole sealing element. The BHA also includes a location and shifting mechanism for locating, engaging and actuating features in a wellbore. The BHA provides for the selective location and actuation of downhole features such as flow valves, precise introduction of fluid, and real-time monitoring of downhole conditions. Methods of deploying a BHA and treating an area of interest using the BHA includes engaging sealing elements using hydraulic pressure.

Abstract:
A high-pressure injection proppant system for stimulating coal bed methane production preloads proppant, such as sand, into one or more high-pressure vessels, for delivery into a fluid stream, such a N2 gas stream. A screw auger arrangement meters the proppant volumes and rates into the fluid stream. Two such vessels operationally mounted in parallel can function separately or concurrently depending on the demand for proppant in a particular formation. The system provides for the injection of surfactants into the fluid stream to enhance the performance of the proppant, to aid in the placement of the proppant into a fracture network, and to demote proppant flowback during production and embedment. The system can be operated manually or by computer automation to aid in the accuracy of the mixing of the fluid stream components.

Abstract:
A mechanical casing collar locator is disclosed. The casing collar locator has an outermost, locator leaf spring cage, and one or more radially stacked reinforcement leaf spring cages. Each leaf spring cage has a plurality of flexible leaf spring beam members, each having a locator dog thereon for engage collar recesses, or other recesses, in the wellbore casing. The leaf spring beam members of the reinforcement leaf spring cages radially support the leaf spring beam members and the locator dogs of the locator leaf spring cage for providing enhanced radially outward spring force.
