摘要: The invention relates to communication of data in a time division multiple access system where the data is transmitted wirelessly between station (MS1-MS6; BS1-BS3) in time slots. The time slots are arranged in frames of a repeating frame structure. The stations (MS1-MS6; BS1-BS3) autonomously select time slots for transmission of data according to a self-organizing transmission algorithm, which allows a first station (MS1) to reuse a time slot that is allocated to a second station (MS2-MS6, BS2, BS3). According to the invention an addressed message (MM1Adr) is sent from a first base station (BS1) to a mobile station (MS1). This station transmits am acknowledgement message (AckM1B1) in response to the addressed message (MM1Adr) in order to confirm a safe receipt of the addressed message (MM1Adr). If due to for example a high traffic load, the acknowledgement message (AckM1B1) cannot be received directly by the first base station (BS1), the mobile station (MS1) sends this message (AckM1B1) via a second base station (BS2) to a message handling entity (MHE) in a network (N), which is responsible for the transmission of the addressed message (MM1Adr). The message handling entity (MHE) may either be a separate node in the network (N) or be included in the first station (BS1). Thanks to the proposed solution, unnecessary repeated transmissions of the addressed message (MM1Adr) can be avoided, and consequently valuable wireless bandwidth be saved.

摘要: There are provided a plurality of methods for detecting a scene change in a streamed video, the streamed video comprising a series of pictures. An example method comprises calculating, for a plurality of positions, a difference between the costs of coding macro-blocks at the same position in successive pictures. The method further comprises identifying a new scene when the sum of the differences for a plurality of positions meets a threshold criterion. There is further provided a method of determining the perceptual impact of a packet loss on a streamed video the method comprising: identifying a packet loss; and determining if the lost packet contained information relating to a picture at the start of a new scene, wherein a new scene is detected using one of the methods disclosed herein.

摘要: There is provided a method of determining the quality of a three dimensional (3D) video stream, wherein the 3D video comprises at least one 3D view composition, each 3D view composition defining a plurality of two dimensional (2D) views. The method comprises determining a characteristic of each of a plurality of 2D views. The method further comprises calculating a variation in the characteristic, the variation calculated between the 2D views corresponding to the same 3D view composition. The method further still comprises calculating a quality score for the 3D video sequence, the quality score based upon the calculated variation.

摘要: In a method of distributing media content with overlay graphical information from a media server to a media client the graphical information is extracted from the media content and transmitted to a media client. Prior to encoding the media content, each frame that comprises an area of graphical information is processed in separate blocks, in a manner such that an introduction of visual arte facts in the vicinity of the graphical information is avoided. The encoded media content is then transmitted to the media client, where the media content will be reproduced by adding the graphical information as an overlay on top of the decoded media content, but without comprising any coding originated arte facts.

摘要: In an image-encoding scheme, an input image is decomposed into image blocks comprising multiple image elements. The image blocks are then encoded into encoded blocks. An encoded block comprises a first color codeword, a second color codeword, a color modifier codeword and a color index sequence. The color codewords are representations of a first and second base color located on a first line in color space. The modifier codeword is a representation of at least one color modifier for modifying the first base color along a second line to obtain multiple color representations along the line. The second line has a different direction as compared to the first line. The index sequence comprises color indices associated with a color representation selected form i) the representations on the second line and ii) at least one representation based on the second base color.

摘要: In a method for extracting information from an encoded bit stream, the extracted information may be used for improving bit stream quality assessment, or for adapting a decoding sub-system. From an encoded bit stream, received from a bit stream source, complexity related information that is indicative of the complexity of the encoding of said bit stream is extracted. On the basis of said extracted complexity related information one or more data settings are then selected, after which the data settings may be used as an input for improving bit stream quality assessment at a decoding device or a network node, or for adapting a bit stream decoding sub-system at a decoding device.
