    摘要: A method and client device is disclosed for indexing content of a multimedia file. The method comprises using a client device to segment the content of the multimedia file into a plurality of segments and to determine structure-searchable data for each segment. Determining structure searchable data for a segment comprises (1) identifying one or more features of respective multimedia types in the segment; (2) correlating each of the identified features to one or more respective keywords; and (3) calculating one or more respective relevance factors for each of the keywords, where at least one of the relevance factors is based on one or more characteristics of the client device. The method also comprises the client device transmitting the structure-searchable data (including the keywords, relevance factors, and respective media types of the identified features) to an indexing server.

The method comprises obtaining an indicator of a number of discontinuities related to a segment of a video stream, and an indicator of a number of received packets related to said segment of the video stream during a predefined period of time. The method further comprises converting said obtained indicators, by use of at least one mapping function, into a set of parameters suitable for use as input parameters to a parametric video quality estimation model. The method and arrangement enables parametric quality estimation based on the basic parameters reported by legacy equipment.

    摘要: One or more embodiments herein dynamically and objectively estimate user-perceived quality of an encoded video stream in dependence on the underlying video content of that stream. Estimation processing according to these embodiments includes generating a chronological sequence of the absolute or relative sizes of encoded video frames in the stream. Processing further entails analyzing this sequence to identify a plurality of reference characteristics that are defined in a reference model. These reference characteristics are more specifically defined in the reference model as parameters that characterize or are otherwise associated with content-dependent variations in user-perceived quality. For example, the reference characteristics in some embodiments comprise reference patterns or reference statistical measures that have been determined based on analyzing frame size sequences generated for reference video streams with known qualities. Regardless, processing finally includes estimating the user-perceived quality of the stream based on the identified reference characteristics, according to the reference model.

    摘要: There are provided a plurality of methods for detecting a scene change in a streamed video, the streamed video comprising a series of pictures. An example method comprises calculating, for a plurality of positions, a difference between the costs of coding macro-blocks at the same position in successive pictures. The method further comprises identifying a new scene when the sum of the differences for a plurality of positions meets a threshold criterion. There is further provided a method of determining the perceptual impact of a packet loss on a streamed video the method comprising: identifying a packet loss; and determining if the lost packet contained information relating to a picture at the start of a new scene, wherein a new scene is detected using one of the methods disclosed herein.
