Abstract:
The invention relates to a particular additive and method for dispersing an admixture in a cementitious composition comprising a hydraulic cement, to provide activation of the admixture on mixing of the cementitious composition with water wherein the particles of the particulate additive comprise a carrier comprising pozzolanic material and an admixture bound to the particulate carrier wherein the particles of the additive have a median particle size of between one tenth and one half of the median particle size of the cement used in the cementitious composition.
Abstract:
An automotive suspension strut module has an upper mount assembly which includes a unitary plastic upper mount carrier formed with a through passage which is concentrically disposed about the strut principal axis. The passage is formed with a recessed pocket terminating in an internal annular shoulder, on which is seated a composite strut rod isolator having a metal rod connector cup embedded therein. The rod threaded upper end, which is positioned through a cup bottom wall aperture for threaded attachment by a nut, has its isolator annulus bonded to the connector cup by virtue of the side wall of the connector cup being embedded in the annulus of the rod isolator, whereby the strut rod loads may be tuned independently of the suspension travel loads. An upper end of the plastic carrier is molded with a radially outward flange, defining a circular undersurface seat for an upper end of the suspension helical spring, thereby providing a compact light weight strut upper mount assembly that is readily mounted to the vehicle body structure.
Abstract:
A broad-spectrum UV photoprotective composition is described. The composition is characterized in that the composition comprises mesoporous zinc oxide aggregates having an average aggregate size of at least 0.8 microns dispersed in a carrier and the composition is visibly transparent. Sufficient zinc oxide is included in the composition to achieve an SPF greater than 15, greater than 25, greater than 30, or greater than 50.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improved therapeutically active nanocomposite microstructure compositions, including nanoparticle compositions and nanoparticle preparations. Preferred embodiments include nanoparticle compositions comprising nanoparticles of a therapeutically active agent dispersed in a carrier matrix. The invention also relates to a method for preparing said compositions and preparations using solid-state mechanochemical synthesis. Further, it relates to therapeutic products produced using said compositions and to methods of treatment using the compositions.
Abstract:
A process for producing plate-like alumina particles with a high aspect ratio is described. Nano-sized particles of an aluminium precursor compound, optionally formed by milling, are mixed with a sufficient volume fraction of a diluent and heat treated to form substantially discrete plate-like alpha alumina particles dispersed in the diluent. A mineraliser may be added to lower the effective melting point of the system. Substantially discrete plate-like particles may be formed without agitation when the heat treatment is conducted below the melting point of the diluent.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a dual catheter radiation delivery system, for delivering a dose of radiation to a treatment site, typically in a body lumen. The system comprises an outer sheath catheter, having an inflatable balloon thereon. The system further comprises an inner radiation delivery catheter, having a radially expandable structure such as a balloon with a radiation source thereon. The sheath catheter is positioned such that the sheath balloon is at the treatment site, and the radiation delivery catheter is transluminally advanced through the sheath catheter such that the radiation source is positioned within the sheath balloon. The radiation delivery balloon is inflated within the sheath balloon, to position the radioactive source near the vessel wall. The source may comprise a thin film carried by the radiation delivery balloon, having a radioactive isotope implanted therein or chemically bonded thereto. Alternatively, the radioactive isotope may be implanted within or adhered to the radiation delivery balloon.
Abstract:
A mailbox display sleeve may include an inside layer and an outside layer joined at a crease. The outside layer may be made of a clear plastic material. An attachment component may attach the inside layer to an outside surface of a mail box. An insert may fit in between the inside layer and the outside layer of the display sleeve, and may thereby be displayed from the mailbox.
Abstract:
A zinc oxide powder is described, which, when used in a dispersion at a concentration of at least 50 wt % of zinc oxide, produces a transparent composition having a total visible transmittance through a path length of 20 microns at 550 nm of at least one of; at least 70%, at least 75%, at least 80% or at least 85%. The powder has a number average zinc oxide aggregate size of at least 0.8 microns, at least 1 micron, at least 2 microns or at least 3 microns. Use of the zinc oxide powder reduces the risk of transdermal penetration.
Abstract:
A method of treating an aneurysm comprising placing an aspiration catheter in communication with the aneurysm. A prosthesis is deployed across an opening to the aneurysm to isolate at least a portion of the aneurysm. Material is aspirated from the aneurysm. Embolizing or other material may be introduced into the aneurysm.
