摘要: A modulation device and method, and a demodulation device and method are provided. The modulation device modulates plural baseband signals to generate an optical signal, and comprises: plural modulation units for modulating plural electrical carriers with different frequencies by using the baseband signals respectively, to generate corresponding electrical modulated signals; a synthesizer for synthesizing the electrical modulated signals to generate a single electrical synthesized signal; an optical modulation unit for modulating a single optical carrier by using the electrical synthesized signal to generate the optical signal, wherein signal components corresponding to the baseband signals in the optical signal are distributed on both sides of a carrier frequency of the optical carrier at a predetermined frequency interval. Thus, processing on a high-speed baseband signal may be divided into processing on multiple relatively low-speed baseband signals, overcoming a bottleneck caused by sampling rates of a digital-analog converter and an analog-digital converter.

摘要: The invention provides methods, devices and a system for recovering the corrupted subcarrier at the local oscillator (LO) frequency in coherent optical OFDM transmission. The method includes performing advanced coding on a data signal to obtain an encoded signal; performing high order modulation on the encoded signal to obtain a high-order-modulated signal; performing OFDM modulation on the high-order-modulated signal to obtain an electrical OFDM signal; and performing up-conversion on the electrical OFDM signal to obtain an optical OFDM signal to be output. The inventive technique of employing advanced coding with low rate combining with higher order modulation can be used to reduce the decoding bit error ratio (bit error rate) level, so that the LO subcarrier can be fully recovered while the bandwidth of the transmitted signal may be substantially the same as the existing optical OFDM system, and there is no need to add any feedback control module or feedback loop support or the like to the existing optical OFDM system, so that the complexity of the receiving side can be reduced.

摘要: A method for developing fine grained, thermally stable metallic material in which friction stir welding or friction stir processing is performed along at least a portion of the material. Thereafter, a thin layer is removed from either side, or both sides of the material to eliminate the origin of abnormal grain growth occurring when the friction stir welded or friction stir processed material is subjected to subsequent hot forming processes. A sheet of extraneous material is optionally attached to either side, or both sides of the material prior to the friction stir welding or friction stir processing, and this extraneous material is removed after the friction stir welding or friction stir processing. A layer containing pinning particles or a sheet of extraneous material containing pinning particles is further optionally introduced on either side, or both sides of the material prior to the friction stir processing.
