Abstract: A ferritic stainless steel sheet includes a base metal and a nitrided layer that is formed on a surface of the base metal, a chemical composition of the base metal contains, in mass %, C: 0.001 to 0.020%, Si: 0.01 to 1.50%, Mn: 0.01 to 1.50%, P: 0.010 to 0.050%, S: 0.0001 to 0.010%, Cr: 16.0 to 25.0%, N: 0.001 to 0.030%, Ti: 0.01 to 0.30%, and optional elements, with the balance: Fe and unavoidable impurities, a steel microstructure of the base metal includes, in volume ratio, 95% or more of a ferritic phase, the nitrided layer is a layer that is present in a region from a surface of a rolled surface to a 0.05 μm depth position in a sheet thickness direction, and an average nitrogen concentration in the nitrided layer is, in mass %, 0.80% or more.

Abstract: There is provided a precipitation hardening stainless steel with the composition: C: 0.05-0.30 wt %, Ni: 9-10 wt %, Mo: 0.5-1.5 wt %, Al: 1.75-3 wt %, Cr: 10.5-13 wt %, V: 0.25-1.5 wt %, Co: 0-0.03 wt %, Mn: 0-0.5 wt %, Si: 0-0.3 wt %, and remaining part up to 100 wt % is Fe and impurity elements, with the additional proviso that the amounts of Al and Ni also fulfil Al=Ni/4±0.5 in wt %. Further Creq is in the interval 11-15.4 wt % and Nieq is in the interval 10.5-15 wt %. There is the possibility to have very low amounts of cobalt, well below 0.01 wt %. The precipitation hardening stainless steel displays, low segregation, high yield strength at elevated temperatures, and can also suitably be nitrided. The precipitation hardening stainless steel is more economical to manufacture compared to stainless steel according to the state of the art with the same strength at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: A damper spring having an excellent fatigue limit is provided. A damper spring according to the present embodiment includes a nitrided layer formed in an outer layer, and a core portion that is further inward than the nitrided layer. The chemical composition of the core portion consists of, in mass%, C: 0.53 to 0.59%, Si: 2.51 to 2.90%, Mn: 0.70 to 0.85%, P: 0.020% or less, 5: 0.020% or less, Cr: 1.40 to 1.70%, Mo: 0.17 to 0.53%, V: 0.23 to 0.33%, Cu: 0.050% or less, Ni: 0.050% or less, Al: 0.0050% or less, Ti: 0.050% or less, N: 0.0070% or less, and Nb: 0 to 0.020%, with the balance being Fe and impurities. In the core portion, a number density of V-based precipitates having a maximum diameter ranging from 2 to 10 nm is 500 to 8000 pieces/μm2.

Abstract: The present invention aims at providing a chain with excellent wear resistance, which minimizes chain elongation, reduces vibration and noise, and improves drive efficiency. The chain according to the present invention includes at least a plurality of link plates and a plurality of pins as chain components. The pins and mutually sliding chain components sliding against the pins are formed with a hardened surface layer containing one of Cr carbide, Ti carbide, V carbide, Nb carbide, Cr nitride, Ti nitride, V nitride, and Nb nitride on part or all of respective sliding surfaces. In the case where the chain includes bushings as chain components and the bushings are the mutually sliding chain components, the bushings are formed with the hardened surface layer on part or all of their sliding surfaces.

The steel has a tempered martensite structure. The hardness of a surface region that is a region within 10 μm from an outer surface is from more than 0 HV to 50 HV higher than the hardness of a region other than the surface region.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a bearing shaft provided with an outer peripheral surface that includes a raceway surface (side surface) on which a rolling element rolls. The bearing shaft is made of steel containing carbon of 0.7% or more. The raceway surface is formed with a nitrogen-enriched layer. The absolute value of compressive residual stress in the surface of the nitrogen-enriched layer (i.e., the surface of a hardened layer which is formed on the side surface of the bearing shaft by shot peening) is 600 MPa or more and 1700 MPa or less. Thereby, it is possible for the present invention to prolong the operation life of a bearing.
