    摘要: A method for retaining and recalling technical data associated with a solenoid-operated fuel injector improves engine emissions. Each fuel injector is tested to generate technical data specifications relating to the fuel injector. The technical data specifications are then transferred to a memory means, such as an EEPROM memory chip, which is attached to the fuel injector. The injector then carries its unique technical data specifications. The technical data specifications can then be read from the fuel injector and the recalled technical data specifications are provided to a vehicle computer. The vehicle computer adjusts for variations between fuel injectors to collapse variability of injectors to a single, centered injector flow.

    摘要: The present invention provides a proportional microvalve having a first, second and third layer, and having high aspect ratio geometries. The first layer defines a cavity with inlet and outlet ports. The second layer, doped to have a low resistivity and bonded between the first and third layers, defines a cavity having a flow area to permit fluid flow between the inlet and outlet ports. The second layer further defines an actuatable displaceable member, and one or more thermal actuators for actuating the displaceable member to a position between and including an open and a closed position to permit or occlude fluid flow. The third layer provides one wall of the cavity and provides electrical contacts for electrically heating the thermally expandable actuators. The thermal actuators and the displaceable member have high aspect ratios and are formed by deep reactive ion etching such that they are displaceable in the plane of the second layer while being very stiff out of the plane. Thus, both actuation and displacement of the displaceable member are in the plane of the layer.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for subband signal coding, using algorithms of comparable complexity to conventional coders, that exploits a noisy analog signal at the decoder. It is assumed that the analog signal is the output of a channel through which the source is sent uncoded. By using the analog signal at the receiver, the required digital bit rate is able to be reduced while offering comparable fidelity to conventional coding systems that ignore the analog signal. Concepts from conventional subband coding, e.g., subband decomposition, quantization, bit allocation, and lossless bitstream coding, are tailored to exploit the analog signal at the receiver such that frequency-weighted mean-squared error (MSE) is minimized. Because subband coefficients are coded, all results pertaining to perceptual masking are easily applied to this method of coding. The invention is directed to a signal coding solution for a hybrid channel that is the composition of two channels: a noisy analog channel through which a signal source is sent unprocessed and a secondary rate-constrained digital channel. The source is processed prior to transmission through the digital channel.
