    摘要: The present invention comprises a molding composition comprising at least about 70% wt. polypropylene or polypropylene random copolymer; up to about 30 wt. % of a block copolymer composition comprising at least one selectively hydrogenated block copolymer which substantially matches the index of refraction of the polypropylene or polypropylene random copolymer, and up to about 0.70% by wt. of a clarifying agent, wherein the weight % of the total blend is 100%. The present invention also may be a molded article produced from the molding composition. A molded article formed from such a composition at a thickness of 0.125 inches will have a haze of less than about 50% and an instrumented impact toughness of at least 100 inch-lbs at −20° C. to −30° C.

    摘要: The use of novel heterogeneous catalyst complexes as catalysts for oligomerizing alpha-olefins is disclosed. The complexes are formed from (i) a solid olefin polymer having a linear backbone and a plurality of pendant omega-hydroxyalkyl groups, (ii) an organomagnesium halide, and (iii) a boron trihalide, preferably BF.sub.3. The complexes can be recovered and reused repeatedly in batch-type operations and can be used for long periods of time in continuous or semi-continuous operations without replenishment of their boron trifluoride content.

    摘要: This invention relates to polyolefin alloys that are receptive to metal plating. These compositions also have enhanced properties and are easily processed into articles by various molding methods. The blends of the invention preferably include a polyethylene component, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer(s), and at least one styrene monoolefin copolymer. The invention also relates to articles containing such alloys, and to methods of forming such blends and articles containing the same. These blends have excellent platability and superior physical properties including enhanced stiffness and toughness.

    摘要: A novel block copolymer composition including a hydrogenated block copolymer that has at least one block A and at least one block B, and wherein (a) prior to hydrogenation each A block is a mono alkenyl arene homopolymer block and each B block is a controlled distribution copolymer block of at least one conjugated diene and at least one mono alkenyl arene, (b) subsequent to hydrogenation about 0-10% of the arene double bonds have been reduced, and at least about 90% of the conjugated diene double bonds have been reduced, (c) each A block having a number average molecular weight between about 3,000 and about 60,000 and each B block having a number average molecular weight between about 30,000 and about 300,000, (d) each B block comprises terminal regions adjacent to the A blocks that are rich in conjugated diene units and one or more regions not adjacent to the A blocks that are rich in mono alkenyl arene units, (e) the total amount of mono alkenyl arene in the hydrogenated block copolymer is about 5 percent weight to about 50 percent weight, and (f) the weight percent of mono alkenyl arene in each B block is between about 10 percent and about 75 percent. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is present in the block copolymer in an amount from about 50 to about 95 percent by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer.

    摘要: Thermoplastic polymer blends and formed articles made thereof which exhibit superior physical properties such as a combination of excellent scratch resistance, rigidity and impact toughness. The thermoplastic polyolefin blend includes from about 40 percent to about 80 percent of a base component of propylene-containing polymer; from about 5 percent to about 30 percent of a toughening component; and from about 3 percent to about 40 percent of a thermoplastic elastomer, preferably of a high styrene containing block or random copolymer. A preferred thermoplastic polyolefin blend includes between about 50 percent to about 70 percent of the base component; between about 10 percent to about 20 percent of the toughening component; and between about 5 percent to about 20 percent of the styrene block copolymer. Advantageously, the thermoplastic elastomer has greater than 50 percent by weight styrene monomer.
