    摘要: Sanitizing an agricultural facility by placing a chamber having an open interior within the agricultural facility. An item is placed within an open interior of the chamber and a door is interlocked. Then light having a spectral content within a narrow range of wavelengths is provided from at least one lighting device toward the item for a predetermined amount of time to inactivate a microorganism. Simultaneously, ozone may be discharged into the open interior to sanitize the item. Before the door unlocks the ozone within the interior of the chamber is directed to a filter for forming oxygen. Sanitizing the agricultural facility by detect humans, and in response, providing a first light with one spectral content when the human is detected, and providing a second light with a different spectral content within a narrow range of wavelengths to inhibit bacteria growth when humans are not detected.

In one aspect, a lighting unit includes one or more LEDs and an ambient light sensor. The light sensor measures ambient light in synchronization with intermittent off periods of light generated by the LEDs. For example, the LEDs in the lighting unit can be driven by a pulse width modulated signal that turns on and off the LEDs in an alternating manner, and the ambient light can be measured when the LEDs are turned off. In some implementations, a compact lighting unit, such as a light bulb, is provided that can be easily attached to standard light fixtures and can efficiently control its own brightness based on ambient light conditions.

    摘要: A light engine that produces UVA1 light, but not UVA2 or UVB radiation, that will provide a human or animal subject a beneficial application of artificial UVA1 light without the deleterious effect of the UVA2 and UVB light. Methods of providing UVA1 light to the human or animal subject over various periods of time provide positive treatments that can reduce stress, reduce anxiety, increase a pain threshold, and induce interferon production. Exposure to UVA1 wavelength light (360-400 nm) provides a positive effect on both humans and animals. This is especially true when the humans or animals do not receive UVB and UVA2 at the time that the UVA1 light is received, and the ratio of UVA1 light to (UVA1 light+visible light) is greater than 10%.

    摘要: Methods and systems that provide light sources in various areas of an animal enclosure to encourage or discourage animal behaviors. Different wavelengths or intensities of light are provided in various areas of the enclosure such that the animals, for example avian, in the enclosure are encouraged to occupy or not occupy the various areas. Lighting schedules for individual areas can be off-set from one another to encourage movement of the animals to different levels and preventing grouping or piling of the animals from occurring. The lighting schedules can be such that desirable or undesirable wavelengths or intensities of light, as perceived by the animals, are provided to different areas or levels at random times and for random durations during a day. Thus, the animal movement around the enclosure during the day is encouraged, clustering of animals in a single area is discouraged, and the welfare of the animals is improved.
