Abstract:
An apparatus for straightening metal strips, including a first, upper group and a second, lower group of straightening rollers arranged in each case immediately in succession in a strip running direction, and a group of individually controllable actuators arranged alongside one another in a transverse direction. An axial bending profile of at least a first of the straightening rollers is settable by the group of actuators. At least one second group of individually controllable actuators arranged alongside one another in the transverse direction is provided. An axial bending profile of the least a second of the straightening rollers, which is in particular different from the bending profile of the first bending roller, is settable by the second group of actuators.
Abstract:
A method for operating a blowing lance for blowing a gas in a metallurgical vessel, wherein the head of the blowing lance includes at least one supersonic nozzle, operating parameter measurement signals used for the purpose of process control are continuously acquired. The inlet pressure and/or the inlet temperature of the gas at the supersonic nozzle and/or the vibration amplitude and/or the vibration frequency of the blowing lance and/or the time at which ignition occurs during the oxygen blowing process and/or the location at which ignition occurs during the oxygen blowing process is detected and/or measured in the head of the lance by a detector or sensor arranged in the head of the lance near the supersonic nozzle during operation of the blowing lance. The measurement signal(s) are transmitted to a control unit connected to the detector or sensor and made available for controlling the operation of the blowing lance.
Abstract:
A device for detecting the presence of rolling or cast stock, more particularly a metal strip or plate, in a casting, rolling or other strip processing facility, wherein the device includes a detection device for detecting a fluid jet which indicates the presence of the rolling or cast stock. The detection device in turn has an air-filled cavity, which has a tubular opening, and a pressure sensor for detecting an air pressure change in the cavity when the fluid jet hits the tubular opening. A corresponding method for determining the position of rolling or cast stock, more particularly a metal strip or plate, which moves through a casting, rolling or other strip processing facility.
Abstract:
A method for the continuous casting of a metal strand in a continuous casting installation, in which, in a casting machine, the metal formed into a slab, with a still molten core, is brought out vertically from a mold, wherein, downstream of the mold in the conveying direction, the slab is made to move along a casting bow, through a number of casting bow segments, and is deflected into the horizontal, wherein each casting bow segment has a number of segment rollers, which are designed for coming into contact with the surface of the slab. In the region before the end of the casting machine, a number of segment rollers are lifted off from the surface of the slab, or are not installed in receptacles provided, and so the contact between the slab and the segment roller is interrupted or there is no contact.
Abstract:
A method for rolling rolling stock, wherein a water-based cooling lubricant is applied to the rolling stock and/or to at least one roller which forms a roll gap, at least one water-soluble and tribologically active additive being added to the water-based cooling lubricant prior to application to the rolling stock and/or to the at least one roller.
Abstract:
A method for cleaning and/or descaling a slab or a preliminary strip by a descaling device that has a nozzle, through which pressurized water is discharged onto the surface of the slab strip. The outlet of the nozzle is rectangular, or is slit-shaped and has an arcuate course at least in some sections, in the direction normal to the surface of the slab or strip, such that the water is discharged as a continuously strip-shaped jet across the entire width of the slab or strip. The width of the outlet of the nozzle in a conveying direction of the slab or strip is between 0.2 mm and 1.5 mm. The water is fed to the nozzle at a pressure between 5 bar and 50 bar. The distance between the outlet of the nozzle and the surface of the slab or strip is between 8 mm and 50 mm.
Abstract:
A support roller, particularly for rolling mill systems or equipment for casting, conveying or straightening metal products, including a cylindrical roller axle, a hollow cylindrical outer ring arranged concentrically in relation to the roller axle, and a plurality of rolling bodies arranged between the roller axle and the outer ring. The roller axle further including a cavity, at least in certain sections between its central axis and a load introduction point. Due to the provision of the cavity the load rating and the service life of the support roller are increased.
Abstract:
Crank scissors, especially for cutting rolling strips, having two pairs of blades which can be secured to the blade carriers. The blade carriers are arranged in an opposite position on a vertical plane in a pair of eccentric drive shafts. Double-joint arrangements are maintained in a pivotable manner on torque-supporting levers co-operating with hydraulic control units that engage the levers. The blade carriers form pairs of heating surfaces, which are parallel to the axis, for the pairs of blades on approximately radial projections. The upper pair of blades is arranged on the inner, bearing surfaces of an arc-shaped recess of the upper blade carrier which are oriented towards each other, and the lower pair of blades is arranged on a relatively narrow projection on the outer bearing surfaces.
Abstract:
A method of equalizing a solidification process of molten metal produced, in particular, during strip casting, includes subjecting the molten metal to an electromagnetic stirring process, with a magnetic field is applied to the molten metal located upstream of the area of the electromagnetic stirring process. The electromagnetic stirring includes applying, during the solidification process, at least one electromagnetic field to an already solidified, external region (11) of the molten metal (10).
Abstract:
A device for cooling a roll for rolling materials, including a cooling shell opposite a sub-region of the roll surface circumference, for forming a cooling gap, through which a cooling fluid can flow, between the sub-region and the cooling shell. The device further includes a first lever which can be pivoted about a suspension point, which can be pivoted toward the roll surface, and which is rotatably connected to a first end region of the cooling shell, when viewed in the circumferential direction of the roll, and a second lever which can be pivoted about another suspension point, which can be pivoted toward the roll surface, and which is rotatably connected to the second end region of the cooling shell, when viewed in the circumferential direction of the roll, such that the cooling gap can be selectively reduced or increased by pivoting the levers.
