    摘要: An OLT transmits and receives a CMTS/CM apparatus control signal through an apparatus physical management interface which is physically identical to or different fro a main signal interface (NNI) and processes the CMTS apparatus control signal by itself. When connection of a new ONU is detected by an ONU apparatus control signal, an IP address is allocated by using the CM apparatus control signal in a manner similar to the CM. The CM apparatus control signal regarding the ONU is transmitted and received by using the IP address and a mutual conversion is performed between the CM apparatus control signal and the ONU apparatus control signal. The ONU processes the ONU apparatus control signal in a manner similar to the ONU based on an ordinary PON standard.

    摘要: An ATM switching system comprises a switch unit including a plurality of input ports and a plurality of output ports having the same cell transmission rate, and a multiplexer for multiplexing cell trains outputted from at least two output ports into a single cell train and outputting the cell train to a high-speed output line (and/or a demultiplexer for demultiplexing a cell train from an output port into a plurality of cell trains and outputting the cell trains to a plurality of low-speed output lines). The switch unit includes a buffer memory for temporarily storing cells inputted from the input ports while forming a queue chain for each output line to which each cell is to be outputted, a demultiplexer for distributing the cells read from the buffer memory among the output ports in circulation, and a buffer memory control circuit for controlling the write and read operation of cells with the shared buffer memory. The buffer memory control circuit has a control table device for outputting an identifier of an output line to which the cells read from the shared buffer memory are to be outputted, and cells are read from the chain designated by the output line identifier outputted from the control table device.

    摘要: In a packet communication method, a packet communication device, an input transmission frame of V (bytes/sec) consisting of a transmission overhead of V.sub.OH (bytes/sec) containing control information for transmission and a pay load of V.sub.p (bytes/sec) of c (=a+b) bytes, the outer cell consisting of an information field of a b-byte length containing transmission data and a header field of an a-byte length containing a first control information for transmitting the information field. The transmission overhead is removed from and a second control information is added to the input transmission frame. The input transmission frame with the second control information and without the transmission overhead is converted to a plurality of inner cell trains of f (=b+j) bytes length, the inner cell trains consisting of an information field of a b-byte containing the transmission data and a second header field of j (=a+d) bytes consisting of the first control information and the second control information (where f.times.g=h.times.V, h is an integer or a fraction of an integer). Packets switching are performed on each inner cell. A plurality of inner cells are converted to an output transmission frame of V (bytes/sec) having the same format as the input transmission frame for transmission.

    摘要: In the ATM switching system, an ATM speech path is divided into a plurality of functional blocks. A routing function for distributing cells (packets) each of a fixed length to addresses outgoing lines and a logical multiplexing function are imparted to a switch, while other functions associated with a line typified by a phase synchronizing function and a flow control function are incorporated en bloc in ATM line terminating units and functions capable of being processed by hardware in common to the lines are assembled in a line common unit. The ATM line terminating unit physically terminates transmission lines and performs the processing relevant to header information of the cells each of a fixed length (ATM terminating processing) and includes a cell phase synchronizing circuit for matching the temporal positions of the cells among the lines and a flow control circuit for avoiding overload exceeding the load declared by subscriber terminal. The line common unit serves for processings of call control signals and the calls and includes a signal processing circuit and a control circuit. The switch performs cell multiplexing and switching and is constituted by a self-routing switch.

An optical line terminating apparatus (OLT) connected to plural types of ONUs having different signal transmission speeds through an optical distribution network includes an optical transmitter-receiver connected to the optical distribution network, a transmission/reception line interface connected to a wide area network, a downstream frame processing section for converting a packet received by the transmission/reception line interface from the wide area network into a downstream frame containing identification information on a destination ONU in a header, and a downstream transmission controller for modulating the downstream frame at a speed corresponding to a signal transmission speed of the destination ONU and outputting the modulated frame to an electrical/optical converter connected to the optical transmitter-receiver.
