摘要:
A directory of telephone numbers is entered into a cellular radiotelephone by entering the directory into a terminal, transferring the directory from the terminal to the radiotelephone via a wireless coupling, and programming the directory into a memory of the cellular radiotelephone. The radiotelephone preferably includes an acoustic output transducer, an acoustic input transducer, a transceiver, a memory, a wireless coupling for receiving a data signal including the directory of telephone numbers, and a processor for programming the directory in the memory. The terminal is preferably a system including an input device for accepting entry of the directory, a processor for converting the directory into a data signal which can be transferred to the radiotelephone and an acoustic output transducer for transferring the data signal to the radiotelephone where the directory of telephone numbers can be programmed into memory.

A digital signal processor generates in-phase, quadrature-phase and amplitude signals from a baseband signal. A modulator modulates the in-phase and quadrature-phase signals to produce a modulated signal. A phase locked loop is responsive to the modulated signal. The phase locked loop includes a controlled oscillator having a controlled oscillator input. An amplifier includes a signal input, amplitude control input and an output. The signal input is responsive to the controlled oscillator output and the amplitude control input is responsive to the amplitude signal. The in-phase and quadrature-phase signals may be normalized in-phase and quadrature-phase signals. Alternatively, a phase tracking subsystem may be provided that is responsive to the quadrature modulator to produce a phase signal that is responsive to phase changes in the modulated signal and that is independent of amplitude changes in the modulated signal. An amplitude tracking subsystem also may be provided that is responsive to the modulator to produce an amplitude system that is responsive to amplitude changes in the modulated signal and that is independent of the phase changes in the modulated signal. An amplifier has a signal output, an amplitude control input and an output. The signal input is responsive to the phase signal and the amplitude control input is responsive to the amplitude signal.

In radio transmitting equipment that develops a carrier frequency using a mixer, techniques are used to "shift" or "hide" spurious mixer outputs so that they do not significantly degrade spectral purity of the transmitter output. These techniques generally involve establishing a predetermined frequency relationship between the two signals inputted to the transmitter mixer (TXIF (VCO) and TXLO) in addition to the relationship required to provide the desired difference frequency when the two signals are mixed in the mixer. By establishing a certain predetermined frequency relationship between these two signals it is possible to precisely locate the frequencies of the undesirable mixer output products so that they can be filtered out and/or fall onto the desired output frequency. While generally applicable, these techniques provide special advantages in equipment in which other considerations constrain the design of the transmitter circuitry and frequency inputs thereto.
