Abstract:
The course of a borehole is determined by sending a logging tool down the borehole containing apparatus for measuring an angle of inclination phi and an azimuth angle theta . The signals are transmitted to surface electronics which also receives a signal corresponding to the rate dl/dt of descent of the logging tool into the borehole. A cartesian coordinate system having a reference point at the mouth of the borehole has three coordinates axis perpendicular to each other and identified as AN. AO and TV. The TV axis extends in a vertical direction, the AN axis extends in a horizontal northerly direction and the AO extends in a direction 90* from the AN and TV axial direction. The surface electronics is computer type apparatus which continuously converts the signals corresponding to the angle phi and theta and to the rate dl/dt to a point defining the position of the logging tool at the instant of measurement. As each point is recorded as the logging tool moves through the borehole, a record is made of the course of the borehole. The apparatus and method of the invention also provide for discontinuous operation either at the surface or in the transmission of signals of the logging tool.
Abstract:
A system for optimal pressure control in a multi-stage evaporation unit comprising two or more series connected evaporation stages with at least one of the stages preceded by a heat source, where the fresh or feed solution is passed through heat exchangers in which it is heated by means of the vapors from the subsequent evaporation stages, and where a heat exchanger adapted to permit free flow of the vapor condensate through the heat exchanger inner portion or tube portion is arranged in the line through which the vapor leaves the higher-pressure evaporation stage.
Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A LACQUER RESIN COMPONENT FOR BAKING VARNISHED WHEREIN ESTERIFIED-ALKOXYLATED COPOLYMERS ARE PRODUCED IN A SEQUENTIAL THREE STAGE PROCESS COMPRISING COPOLYMERIZING VINYL AROMATIC HYDROCARBON AND MALEIC ACID ANHYDRIDE AND EQUENTIALLY HALF ESTERIFYING AND ALKOXYYLATING THE RESULTANT COPOLYMER. ALL THREE STAGES OF THE PROCESS ARE CONDUCTED IN A CONTINUOUS PHASE IN THE PRESENCE OF A DISPERING AGENT AND A HIGH BOILING LIQUID HYDROCARBON SOLVENT MEDIUM, SAID HYDROCARBON BEING PREFERABLY OF A SUBSTANTIALLY NON-AROMATIC NATURE, SAID DISPERSING AGENT BEING A COPOLYMER OF (1) ESTERS FORMED FROM ALPHA, BETA-UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND LONG CHAIN ALIPHATIC ALCOHOLS IN THE ANGE OF FROM C10 TO C20 CADBONS OR MIXTURES THEREOF AND (2) ETHYLENICALLY UNSATURATED COPOLYMERIZABLE COMPOUNDS.

Abstract:
A molding composition which is water cured to a polyurea bound material prepared by mixing between about 90 and 99 wt. percent sand and between about 1 and 10 wt. percent of a multifunctional isocyanate bonding agent which is the product of the phosgenation of the condensation product of an aldehyde and aromatic amine or an aldehyde, aromatic amine and a phenol.
Abstract:
RESIN PRODUCTS ARE PREPARED BY ALKOXYLATION OF COPOLYMERS OF VINYL AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS SUCH AS STYRENE, WITH ALPHA, BETA-UNSATURATED DISCARBOXYLIC ACID HALF ESTERS SUCH AS THE MALEIC ACID-N-BUTYL HALF ESTER. THE THUS-FORMED RESIN PRODUCTS ARE USEFUL AS LACQUER RESIN COMPONENTS FOR BAKING VARNISHES.
