摘要: An automatic clutch mechanism that allows the feel of gear shifting to be readily transmitted to a rider through a pedal. The automatic clutch mechanism shifts gears while disengaging a clutch in conjunction with one pedal operation. A transmission effects a gear shift in conjunction with a pedal operation. The clutch includes an elastic member, and an engaging portion for bringing the transmission and an engine into engagement with each other by the elastic reaction force of the elastic member. The elastic member has a gradient-decreasing range in which the gradient of a change in elastic load with respect to deformation of the elastic member decreases as the deformation increases. The gradient-decreasing range is included in the use range of the elastic member determined by operation of the clutch.

摘要: An engine has a continuously variable transmission in which a drive pulley is attached to an end of a crankshaft. The drive pulley is coupled by a flexible transmitter to a driven pulley. The driven pulley is attached to an end of a transmission shaft. A centrifugal clutch mechanism is axially aligned with the transmission shaft. The centrifugal clutch is positioned inboard of the driven pulley. A case supports the crankshaft and the transmission shaft. The case comprises a first case portion and a second case portion that are joined along a plane that is positioned between the driven pulley and a longitudinal plane that intersects an axis of a cylinder of the engine.

摘要: In order to acquire a suitable fingerprint image by correcting an elongated fingerprint image, a line sensor acquires fingerprint image as a plurality of line-shaped images. A computation unit computes a similarity value by use of an evaluation function for evaluating the degree of similarity between the line-shaped images. The similarity value represents the degree of similarity between a first line-shaped image and a second line-shaped image which serve as a similarity evaluation target and are included in the plurality of the line-shaped image. A compression unit compresses the first line-shaped image and the second line-shaped image when the similarity value is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold value to generate a new line-shaped image. A generation unit generates the entire fingerprint image by combining the new line-shaped image with the other line-shaped images.

摘要: A saddle-type vehicle has an engine unit with a continuously variable transmission. The transmission has a primary sheave and a secondary sheave that are connected by a flexible transmitter such as a belt. The primary sheave, the secondary sheave and the belt are positioned in a transmission case. A starting kick shaft is positioned on the same side of the engine unit as the transmission case but the starting kick shaft is positioned outside of a profile of the transmission case when the engine unit is viewed from a lateral side.

摘要: A secondary sheave shaft of a transmission is disposed vertically higher than a drive shaft when viewed along the axial direction of the shafts. An idle shaft of a speed-reduction mechanism is disposed between a primary sheave and an imaginary plane that extends through an axis of rotation of the secondary sheave shaft and an axis of rotation of the drive shaft. The drive shaft is disposed inside a profile of a transmission case when viewed along the axial direction of the secondary sheave shaft and the drive shaft.

摘要: An engine is constructed such that respective centers of gravity of a crank shaft, a balancer shaft and a cylinder are positioned close to one another and the mass of the engine is thus centralized. The engine includes a shaft center of a cylinder that is offset to one side with respect to a shaft center of a crank shaft, and a balancer shaft is disposed on a side of the engine where the cylinder shaft center is offset with respect to a first parallel line which intersects with the crank shaft center and extends substantially parallel to the cylinder shaft center.

摘要: A method and disk apparatus, for writing data disk apparatus, that reduces the adverse influence of noise caused by data head writing on a read signal of a servo head even though the data head and the servo head are collaterally paired with no disks there between. A magnetic disk apparatus comprises a plurality of magnetic disks that are stacked at predetermined intervals; a servo head for reading servo signals recorded on a servo surface of one of the magnetic disks; a plurality of data heads, one of which is provided for each data surface of the magnetic disks with a first data head being collaterally positioned with the servo head, with no intervening magnetic disk, and second data heads being positioned at other than the collateral position; and an actuator for supporting the servo head and the data heads and for positioning the servo head and the data heads by moving them radially relative to the magnetic disks. The method comprises the steps of: producing a write current whose value is varied by selecting either the first data head or one of the second data heads in consonance with a head select signal; and driving, at the write current value, the data head that is selected by the head select signal in consonance with write data. The magnetic disk apparatus further comprises a write circuit for varying a write current value by selecting either the first data head or one of the second data heads in consonance with a head select signal, and for driving the selected data head in consonance with write data.
