摘要: A shaped electroconductive thermoplastic resin composition article having a preferable surface appearance is produced by a process including (1) mixing a matrix resinous material containing 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin and, optionally, 120 parts by weight or less of a flame x retardant additive and 40 parts by weight or less of a flame retardant synergistic additive, with 1 to 15% based on the weight of the matrix resinous material, of stainless steel fibers having a length of 2.5 to 7.5 mm and adhered to each other with a thermoplastic resinous adhesive to form a number of bundles; (2) kneading the resultant mixture at an elevated temperature at which the matrix resinous material is melted and (3) shaping the kneaded mixture into a desired form, the kneading the shaping procedures being carried out so that the stainless steel fibers are uniformly dispersed in the melted matrix resinous material and the dispersed stainless steel fibers have an average length of 0.5 to 2.0 mm. The ratio of the average length of the dispersed and sheared stainless steel fibers to the length of the stainless steel fiber bundles is preferably in a range of 1/6 to 1/3.

摘要: Drying of a solid polymer is disclosed in which a solid polymer obtained by polymerization (or a product of modification of the solid polymer) is contacted with a drying gas so that any solvent and/or unreacted polymerization feed materials remaining in the solid polymer are removed to thereby dry the solid polymer, and in which a gaseous polymerization feed material is used as the drying gas and contacted with the solid polymer to thereby dry the solid polymer (step i), and the resultant solid polymer is contacted with a drying gas which contains an inert gas (step ii). The drying gas can be recovered from the step (i) and part thereof can be recycled through a polymerization step as it is or be recycled, after cooling the drying gas to thereby remove any condensed components, to the step (i). Not only can the solid polymer be efficiently dried but also the solvent and unreacted polymerization feed materials recovered from the solid polymer can efficiently be recycled by the disclosed method.

摘要: A gas leakage detector comprising a solid state gas sensor having a sintered metallic oxide block which changes thermal conductivity by chemical adsorption thereto and a wire for transforming thermal conductivity charges into an electric signal. A suction pump draws gas through a gas intake path to the gas sensor. A voltage-frequency converter generates a pulse frequency that is a function of the gas sensor voltage. An alarm indicator including sound and/or light is controlled to pulse by the output pulse of the voltage frequency converter.

摘要: A method of treating polyolefin comprises (i) a ligand-decomposition step of contacting polyolefin, which is obtained by the use of a transition metal compound containing ligands having cyclopentadienyl skeleton, with a ligand decomposer, such as water, oxygen, alcohol, alkylene oxide or peroxide, to decompose the ligands contained in the polyolefin, and (ii) a ligand-removal step of heating the polyolefin contacted with the ligand decomposer to remove the decomposed ligands from the polyolefin. According to this method, the residual ligands having cyclopentadienyl skeleton, which are contained in the polyolefin produced by the use of a transition metal compound containing ligands having cyclopentadienyl skeleton, are decomposed and removed from the polyolefin, whereby polyolefin diminished in odor development in the molding process can be obtained.

摘要: Disclosed is a control apparatus for correcting the measurement of flow rates for use with a turbine-type flow meter in which the rotation of a turbine rotating in response to the flow velocity of fluid to be measured is detected to produce pulses which are, in turn, integrated to measure the flow rate of the fluid. The apparatus operates to obtain a value representing the rate of reduction in the flow rate from the pulse cycle in order to detect a first time at which the reduction rate increases above a first predetermined value and a second time at which the reduction rate decreases below a second predetermined value, produce a correction value on the basis of the pulse cycle at the second time and the time lag between the first and second times, and integrate pulses other than those generated in the period of time between the first and second times, adding the correction value from the correction value producing means to the integrated value.
