摘要: A method and system for computing disk space used by a directory and its descendants that may proceed while input and output are occurring that involve the directory and any of its descendants. A calculation of the total amount of disk space consumed by a set of objects is commenced. While performing the calculation, changes to the objects are monitored. If a change to one or more of the objects affects the disk space consumed by the objects, the calculation is changed so that the total reflects the change to the one or more objects.

摘要: Energy efficient transmission of content can be provided using a variety of techniques. In an example technique, portions of content can be transmitted from a first computing device to a second computing device for display. A wireless radio of the first computing device can be placed into a low power mode between transmissions of the portions of content. In another example technique, one or more portions of content can be decoded, displayed, encoded, and transmitted by a first computing device for mirroring on a second computing device. One or more other portions of the content can be transmitted in encoded format to the second device without being decoded and displayed by the first device. In another example technique, a wireless radio of a first device can be placed into a low power mode in between transmission of commands to a second computing device to control content.

摘要: The subject disclosure is directed towards a background transfer service that provides platform-level support for third party applications to queue data transfers to run in the background, including when the application is not running in the foreground. Applications may thus perform downloading and uploading tasks in the background; however the background transfer service manages the data transfer requests so as to limit each background application's ability to interfere with foreground application operations, that is, by controlling resource usage according to one or more policies.

摘要: A file system enables the real-time correction of detected corruptions to on-disk data. An enhancement to a file system responds in real time to file system corruptions detected on a running volume, and repairs the corruptions at the point where the file system detects them. Upon detection of a corruption by the file system, the system enhancement records information describing the nature of the corruption. A repair scan is defined for each type of corruption encountered. Repair scans can be run at the top level of execution in the current thread in which the corruption is detected, or they may require a dedicated thread to service the repair operation.

The extensible file system format includes the specification of primary and secondary directory entry types that may be custom defined. The primary and secondary directory entry types can be further classified as critical and benign directory entries. The directory entry types can define whether a cluster chain corresponding to a file can be contiguously allocated.

摘要: A file system which is enabled to use a Metadata Partition instead of VAT for write-once discs, is provided by a pseudo-overwrite method. On applying this invention to a drive apparatus which supports pseudo-overwrite media, the file system distinguishes data to overwrite from data to append. When the data is newly written to a logical sector (S1305), the drive apparatus writes the data to a physical sector to which the logical sector corresponds (S1311). When the logical sector is overwritten the data is written to another unrecorded physical sector in the volume space (1321), and remapping information that specifies the original address, and the remapping address are stored in the remapping table (S1322).

摘要: A computer-implemented system is provided that facilitates implementation of a voice over IP (VOIP) application. The system includes a host system and a user interface (UI) host process residing on the host system. The system also includes an agent host process residing on the host system which is being configured to process a VOIP call received by one or more VOIP applications executable on the host system. The agent host process running as a foreground or background process for the duration of the VOIP call to (i) communicate with a VOIP server associated with the VOIP application, (ii) capture content from at least one input device associated with the host system and (iii) render content on an output device associated with the host system when an instance of the UI host process operates in the foreground.
