A device for protecting a computer peripheral against unauthorized removal includes a signal cord-holding portion having a signal cord holding passage. The signal cord holding portion is transformable between an open condition for receiving the signal cord in the signal cord holding passage or releasing the signal cord and a signal cord holding condition for preventing removal of the signal cord without dismounting from a connector or peripheral. A connecting structure is provided for connecting the device to an object. The signal cord holding portion and the connecting structure are interconnected for securing the signal cord holding portion in the signal cord holding condition if the connecting structure is connected to an object. A device for protecting a computer peripheral against unauthorized removal is also described.

A continuous method for producing composite elastic yarns at speeds up to 700 m/min by (a) stretching (drafting) an elastomeric yarn (e.g., spandex) by 2.0× (100%) to 10.5× (950%) while heating (max. heating temperature 220° C.) in a single or double stage draft, (b) air-jet entangling with a relatively inelastic yarn component to create a composite elastic yarn, and then (c) in-line heat-treating (max. heating temperature 240° C.) the composite elastic yarn. The initial draft stage(s) may also be carried out at ambient temperature. The resulting composite elastic yarn has improved stitch clarity, particularly suited for hosiery, and its properties can be tailored to provide fabric properties for knit and woven fabrics hitherto not possible with standard spandex yarns.

A process is provided for dry spinning a segmented polyurethaneurea at speeds as high as 900 meters/min. The process includes chain-extending an isocyanate-capped polyether glycol with a mixture of ethylenediamine and 1,2-diaminopropane, the 1,2-diaminopropane amounting to 8 to 17 mole % of the diamine mixture. The resultant spandex is particularly suited for use in women's hosiery.
