摘要: An apparatus and a related method for performing particle agglutination reactions in at least one disposable probe tip are disclosed. The at least one probe tip includes a sample cavity for sample acquisition, at least one flanking cavity for the capture of particles by centrifugation or other means, a transition zone for the mixing of the sample with reagents for agglutination and a detection zone for the optical detection of particle agglutination. A mechanism may be attached to the probe tip for the controlled movement of fluids through the internal volume of the probe tip. The probe tip is particularly useful for the automation of high-throughput agglutination-type assays.

摘要: A process is provided for converting oxygenate to olefins from a fluidized bed reactor which comprises removal of catalyst fines from a quenched vaporous effluent by contacting with a liquid low in catalyst fines content, e.g., oxygenate feedstock, or by-product water from the oxygenates to olefins conversion which is stripped and/or filtered. The process typically comprises: contacting a feedstock comprising oxygenate with a catalyst comprising a molecular sieve under conditions effective to produce a deactivated catalyst having carbonaceous deposits and a product comprising the olefins; separating the deactivated catalyst from the product to provide a separated vaporous product which contains catalyst fines; quenching the separated vaporous product with a liquid medium containing water and catalyst fines, in an amount sufficient for forming a light product fraction comprising light olefins and catalyst fines and a heavy product fraction comprising water, heavier hydrocarbons and catalyst fines; treating the light product fraction by contacting with a liquid substantially free of catalyst fines to provide a light product fraction having reduced catalyst fines content and a liquid fraction of increased fines content; compressing the light product fraction having reduced catalyst fines content; and recovering the light olefins from the compressed light product fraction.

摘要: A disc drive system and method of screening an actuator resonance includes a servo controller providing a multi-servo zone architecture. The servo controller partitions the disc into a plurality of servo zones. Each of the servo zones has a corresponding servo gain. When an actuator resonance is detected in one of the servo zones, the servo controller reduces the corresponding servo gain of the detected servo zone such that a drive with very low resonance at a certain zone does not affect the servo bandwidth of the other good zones. Accordingly, a drive with very low resonance is prevented from being scrapped. Further, the screening technique allows a drive to have an adequate servo margin for its normal operation after going through a resonance detection test.

摘要: A disc drive includes a base and a disc rotatably attached to the base. The disc drive also includes an actuator assembly rotatably attached to said base and a device for moving the actuator assembly. The actuator assembly includes a transducer head in a transducing relationship with respect to the disc. The disc drive includes a disc drive controller for controlling movement of the actuator during track follow and track seek operations. The disc drive controller monitors the actuator during seek operations. The disc drive controller further computes a maximum average settle time from the monitored settle times. The dis drive controller further compares the maximum average settle time to a predetermined threshold value, and issues a command signal to adjust seek profile parameters of the disc drive to eliminate resonance in the actuator arm during a seek operation.

摘要: A method for estimating the viscosity of a liquid in an aspirating or dispensing probe, includes: measuring a reference pressure which is the pressure inside a metering tip when no dispense or aspirate is occurring (Pref); dispensing or aspirating a liquid having a volume of air between the liquid and the pumping mechanism of the probe; stopping the aspirate or dispense; measuring the pressure (Pstop′) inside the tip at a time (t) which is the time when the aspirate or dispense is stopped; measuring the pressure (Pstop′) inside the tip at a time (t′) after t; and estimating viscosity as a function of Pref, Pstop, and Pstop′. In a preferred embodiment, the method is carried out on a diagnostic analyzer.
