Abstract:
Nonwoven abrasive articles comprise a nonwoven abrasive member having an overlayer composition comprising a fatty acid metal salt disposed thereon adjacent to a working surface. The nonwoven abrasive member comprises abrasive particles adhered to a fiber web by a binder. The abrasive particles may be exposed and/or the nonwoven abrasive member may have suitable frictional properties. Methods of making the same are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Keyed fluid-handling devices comprise a fluid-handling device such as a filter, a bypass, or an adapter and an optical key. The optical keys are amenable to all types of filter component and can be readily retrofitted to existing designs. The optical keys may be formed from a variety of materials and combination of phases. That is, optical keys may comprise one or more solid materials, or perhaps may result from a combination of: solid materials, such as in transparent or semi-transparent polymers or glass; liquid fluids, such as water; and gaseous gaps such as an air gap. Optical keys may be light conduits or light guides. Filter manifolds comprise optical locks to ensure compatibility of the filter components.
Abstract:
A contactor module for a contactor panel includes a frame member and a contactor media coupled to the frame member. The contractor module defines a first side and a second side. The contactor media includes at least one first membrane array including a plurality of first hollow fibers extending along a first fiber axis. The at least one first membrane array defines a first axis. Further, the contactor module includes at least one second membrane array including a plurality of second hollow fibers extending along a second fiber axis. The at least one second membrane array defines a second axis. The at least one first membrane array and the at least one second membrane array is disposed such that a first inclination angle is defined between the first axis and the second axis. Moreover, the first inclination angle is greater than zero degree and less than 180 degrees.

Abstract:
A method of making shaped ceramic abrasive particles includes cutting a layer of ceramic precursor material using a laser beam and forming shaped ceramic precursor particles. Further thermal processing provides shaped ceramic abrasive particles. Shaped ceramic abrasive particles producible by the methods and abrasive articles containing them are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Provided are flexible panel devices that use desiccants for heat and mass transfer processes, including but not limited to air conditioning systems, for example, liquid desiccant air conditioning (LDAC) applications wherein the liquid desiccant is contained in a panel that comprises at least one hydrophobic separation layer, which allows water vapor transfer between the air and liquid desiccant and enable dehumidification and humidification of the air. The flexible panel devices can be installed on an absorber (conditioner) side or a desorber (regenerator) side or both of a LDAC system. The devices have two flexible layers, at least one of which comprises a flexible and water vapor permeable hydrophobic separation layer, that form a desiccant flow channel and a desiccant flow distributor located therein. The two flexible layers may both be permeable hydrophobic separation layers, or they may comprise one permeable hydrophobic separation layer along with a non-porous layer.
