Abstract: Implementations relate to identifying an event disrupting connectivity to a first network; determining, for an apparatus, that the apparatus has a connection to a second network; transmitting a message indicating to one or more neighboring devices that the apparatus has network connectivity; receiving a first relay request from a first device and a second relay request from a second device; forwarding, using the connection to the second network, a message associated with the first relay request; and transmitting, to the second device, a backoff message.

Abstract: A communications network may include user equipment (UE) devices. When a first UE device becomes off-grid and has an emergency message, the first UE device may transmit device-to-device signals for receipt by a second UE device. The signals may include one or more preambles that precede the emergency message and that are used by the second UE device to perform synchronization with the first UE device. The second UE device may periodically activate a receiver during a series of windows to listen for the signals, may receive a preamble sequence during one of the windows, and may synchronize its timing to the first UE device for receipt of the emergency message based on the preamble sequence. This may allow the UE devices to be synchronized for transfer of the emergency message over long distances while consuming a minimal amount of power on the second UE device.

Abstract: A device-to-device (D2D) communication application is stored in a memory of a first device, and has an application identifier (ApplicationID) configured to enable D2D communication between two or more devices in proximity. The first device is configured with a user identifier (UserID). A group associated with the D2D communication application can then be established, which includes the first device and one or more second devices, each having the D2D communication capability and an associated UserID, each of the devices exchanging their ApplicationID and UserID with other devices to establish the group. A role in the group is assigned to each device of the first device and one or more second devices, which defines functions for each device to establish the D2D communications. Based on the role of each device, a set of resources from the network are allocated to enable the D2D communication on the D2D communication channel.

Abstract: Various embodiments to enable Spectrum Access System (SAS) interference mitigation options are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a memory to store a data sequence, and one or more processing devices coupled to the memory. The processing devices to generate an interference metric associated with a first group and a second group of infrastructure nodes of a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network infrastructure based on measurement information. The measurement information comprises measurements related to the transmission of data sequences associated with the first group and the second group. Thereupon, configuration settings are determined for infrastructure nodes of the first group and second group based on the generated interference metric. Each configuration setting represents a frequency band and transmission power level for a corresponding infrastructure node to access data in the LTE network infrastructure.

Abstract: A communications network may include a relay device that receives device-to-device (D2D) signals. In an ad hoc mode, the relay may consume relatively little power while receiving relatively few messages from relatively few transmitting devices in the D2D signals. In an organized mode, the device may consume relatively high power while receiving many messages from many transmitting devices in the D2D signals. A receiver on the device may transition from the ad hoc mode to the organized mode in response to a first criterion and may transition from the organized mode to the ad hoc mode in response to a second switching criterion. This may allow the device to balance communications load and power consumption while relaying messages such as emergency messages received over D2D signals given that the signals may arrive rarely or in clusters due to an unforeseen event.
