Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a plurality of live video streams from a plurality of communication devices, the plurality of live video streams being associated with a common event. Further aspects may include aggregating the plurality of live video streams to generate a composite video stream for presenting a selectable viewing of the common event and providing the composite video stream to a device for presentation. Additional aspects may include adjusting the composite video stream according to user generated-input to generate an adjusted composite video stream, the user-generated input corresponds to a request to adjust the presentation of the common event. Other aspects may include providing the adjusted composite video stream to the device for presentation. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device to perform operations including determining a target playback latency not less than a greater of a first playback latency of a streaming media signal at a first media processor and a second playback latency of the first media signal at a second media processor. The streaming media signal includes a first in-content reference. A coordinated playback time is determined according to the target playback latency. A buffer, when adjusted by a buffer value, causes the first in-content reference to be encountered at a coordinated time during playback by the first media processor, which results in a synchronized playback of the streaming media between the first and second media processors. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A method includes receiving media content at a media server and encoding the media content to form a first content stream. The method includes encoding an audio portion of the media content to form a second content stream having a first bit rate. The method includes causing the first content stream to be transmitted to a media device via a satellite distribution system and causing the second content stream to be concurrently transmitted to the media device via a terrestrial distribution system. The method also includes receiving an indication of a disruption of the first content stream at the media device, and , after receiving the indication, causing a change from transmission of the second content stream to transmission of a third content stream of the media content to the media device via the terrestrial distribution system. The third stream has a second bit rate greater than the first bit rate.

Abstract: A method for providing audio portions of broadcast television signals is disclosed. A television signal is buffered by a multimedia client. In response to a user request, audio data may be obtained from a service provider and sent back to the multimedia client using a network back-channel. The obtained audio data may be synchronized with a video portion of the television signal and output to an audio device, while the television signal is output to a display device.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a media device, a first content stream via a satellite distribution system, the first content stream including first media content. While receiving the first content stream, the method includes receiving, at the media device, a second content stream via a terrestrial distribution system. The second content stream includes second media content corresponding to an audio portion of the first media content. The method also includes sending the first media content to a display device and detecting a disruption of the first content stream. The method further includes, after detecting the disruption, sending the second media content to an audio output device associated with or included within the display device.
