Abstract:
Endpoints, such as telephones, on a communication network may request an interactive communication with another endpoint. While the request is being processed, the calling endpoint may receive a call from the called endpoint. Systems and methods are provided that automatically allow one endpoint to accept the incoming call, such as by joining the two calls, and terminating their outbound call. As a result, endpoints attempting to call each other may be connected with a single call without requiring any endpoint to be routed to voicemail due to their called endpoint being busy. Additionally, arbitration rules may be provided to resolve any “race condition” where both endpoints would otherwise each accept or each decline their incoming call.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and computer readable media for identifying information pertinent to an emergent event through social media postings. In a particular embodiment, a method provides, in an emergency contact center, receiving a communication initiated by an individual in response to an emergent event and identifying the individual. The method further provides identifying social media data of the individual created prior to receiving the communication and extracting first data pertinent to the emergent event from the social media data.
Abstract:
A microprocessor executable work assignment mechanism selects a work item associated with a customer, dynamically determines, for the customer, a customer proficiency level with respect to a contact center product and/or product area sold and/or serviced by a contact center, and uses the customer proficiency level in assigning the selected work item to a resource for servicing and/or in providing the determined customer proficiency level to an assigned resource for use in servicing the selected work item.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are directed to configuring a portable electronic device such that a user of the portable electronic device is required to use two hands to operate the portable electronic device. In some configurations, the portable electronic device determines whether the portable electronic device is moving at a rate of speed that is greater than a predetermined threshold before requiring the user to use two hands. Alternatively, or in addition, a function, feature, and/or application of the portable electronic device may be inhibited such that two hands are required. Once the portable electronic device determines that the user is using two hands, an operation, feature, function, and/or application may then be enabled although still be inhibited.
Abstract:
A Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) is configured to enable the detection of one or more clinical signs associated with a caller. The clinical signs may include both auditory and visual clinical signs and may be detected by analyzing a portion of the call information to determine one or more characteristics associated with the call information and comparing the one or more determined characteristics to known clinical sign characteristics. The PSAP may additionally or alternatively utilize the detection of the clinical signs to assist and/or provide an advisory recommendation in the decision of which, if any first responder resources should be dispatched; the recommendation may include which resources and at what priority the resources should be dispatched.
Abstract:
An optical scanner scans a first portion of a print of a body part such as a finger in a first area of an optical surface. The optical scanner detects a motion of the body part to a second area of the optical surface. This can be done in various ways. One way is for the optical scanner to detect a sliding motion of the body part to determine if most of the first portion of the print is in the second area. Another way is for the optical scanner to determine a rolling motion of the print based on a continuity of the print from the first area to the second area. A similar system and method is disclosed which detects a rolling motion of a body part by using a sleeve with multiple properties.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method and device for assigning a telephone number to a browsing session and for providing physical location information to a public safety answering point in association with a web-based chat or relay session.

Abstract:
An exemplary aspect relates an emergency response system and associated technologies. More specifically, an exemplary aspect relates to first responder and associated equipment access to one or more communications systems at, for example, an emergent event. Another exemplary aspect relates to an inference engine for first responders that assists with making inferences based on received information and/or more or more prior inference(s) and optionally automatically providing the inference and/or a recommendation(s) to one or more destinations, such as a communications device. Still another aspect relates to access point authentication and management for certain class(es) of personnel optionally based on location information.
Abstract:
An exemplary aspect relates an emergency response system and associated technologies. More specifically, an exemplary aspect relates to first responder and associated equipment access to one or more communications systems at, for example, an emergent event(s). Still another aspect relates to access point authentication and management for certain class(es) of personnel optionally based on location information. Yet another aspect related to providing specific information based on location. One illustrative example is providing advertising information based on a location relative to an access point(s). Another example, is providing or limiting access to information on the back side of a firewall based on a device's location relative to an access point(s). Yet another example is dynamically modifying an authentication/login page to an access point based, for example, on a location.
