    摘要: The present invention provides a thin film EL device comprising an electrode layer, an emitting layer and an electrode layer formed on a substrate one over another, and an insulating layer interposed between the three layers, the emitting layer containing atoms of a rare-earth element and fluorine atoms in its host material, the atom ratio (F/RE) of the fluorine atoms (F) to the rare-earth atoms (RE) being adjusted to the range of 0.5 to 2.5, and a process for producing the EL device being characterized in that the emitting layer is prepared by forming a film under a condition substantially free from oxygen gas and/or moisture and subjecting the film to a heat treatment at a temperature of 200.degree. C. to 700.degree. C. so that the host material of the emitting layer contains atoms of a rare-earth element (RE) and fluorine atoms (F) in an adjusted atom ratio (F/RE) in the range of 0.5 to 2.5.The present invention affords a thin film EL device which emits, for example, a green luminescence with a high brightness.

    摘要: A color filter is laminated via a resin layer on an electroluminescence device. The resin layer includes silicone resin as its main ingredient while having a thickness of 2 to 100 .mu.m. Thereby, possible color dislocation and reduction of the angle of visibility attributed to the gap between the electroluminescence device and the color filter are prevented. Furthermore, possible damage, dielectric breakdown, pixel dropout, and line defect due to the contact between the electroluminescence device and the color filter are reduced. A surface of the resin layer is changed in condition to make the resin layer have a lipophilic property to facilitate application of a material of the color filter thereto.

    摘要: A method for fabricating an electroluminescence display device is disclosed. The fabricating method includes steps of forming at least one transparent front electrode on a transparent substrate, forming a lower electrically insulating layer on the front electrode, forming an emitting layer of an electroluminescent material on the lower electrically insulating layer, forming an upper electrically insulating layer on the emitting layer, and forming at least one rear electrode on the upper electrically insulating layer. In the fabricating method, at least one of the lower and upper electrically insulating layers is composed of at least one film of Si.sub.x N.sub.y O.sub.z :H, and the si.sub.x N.sub.y O.sub.z :H film is formed by the plasma chemical vapor deposition method.
