Abstract:
A turbidity measuring device having a four-beam, alternating light arrangement for registering turbidity of a measured medium includes first and second light sources L1, L2; and first and second receivers R1, R2. The direct measuring paths extend from light sources Li, through a measured medium, to receivers Ri, and indirect measuring paths extend from light sources Li, through the measured medium, to second receivers Rj; wherein i≠j; wherein turbidity can be ascertained as a function of a quotient A/B by means of an evaluating circuit; wherein A and B are functions at least of signals registered via the direct or indirect measuring paths; wherein at least a first monitor signal, which depends on the first light source, enters into one of the two terms A or B; wherein the light reaches the monitor from the first light source without interaction with the measured medium; and wherein the monitor signal is added to at least one of the signals registered via the measuring paths and entering into the term A or B.
Abstract:
A color calibration chart may be created including a plurality of colors that are variations of a print color established for printing a reference color by a printing system using multiple colors. The colors in the calibration chart may be measured. A color from the calibration chart may be selected for printing the reference color which has a measurement value indicative of a color consistency within a predefined distance from a reference value for the print color.
Abstract:
A method and program product for processing data by a pipeline of a single hardware-implemented virtual multiple instance finite state machine (VMI FSM). An input token of multiple input tokens is selected to enter a pipeline of the VMI FSM. The input token includes a reference to an FSM instance. In one embodiment, the reference is an InfiniBand QP number. After being received at the pipeline, a current state and context of the FSM instance are fetched from an array based on the reference and inserted into a field of the input token. A new state of the FSM instance is determined and an output token is generated. The new state and the output token are based on the current state, context, a first input value, and an availability of a resource. The new state of the first FSM instance is written to the array.
Abstract:
During the transmission of subscriber-specific data, particularly via a transfer medium and according to a transmission principle based on time slot transmission with time slot separation, the transfer medium used by several subscribers can also be efficiently used when the data rates of the data transmitted in the transmission direction and the reception direction for at least one subscriber using the transmission medium are differently, i.e. asymmetrically distributed. To this end, the data to be transmitted for each subscriber are transmitted, as in the case of a symmetric data distribution, in at least two time slots per a periodically returning time frame and corresponding to the asymmetrical distribution of the ratio of a number of transmission data packets to reception data packets in a plurality n half time frame of the time frame with n being greater or equal to 2 and N.
Abstract:
A system and method of introducing interface elements for interfacing with laryngeal structures of a subject is presented. Illustratively, a tunnel is generated in geographical relation to the lateral wing of the thyroid cartilage of the subject and at least one interface element is introduced via the tunnel for interfacing with at least one laryngeal structure of the subject.
Abstract:
A releasable connection arrangement includes a first component, which has a collar projecting radially outwards with a first clamping surface and a first bearing surface and a socket disposed at an open end of a second component for retaining the collar by gripping round it axially. A second bearing surface is formed in the socket to co-operate with the first bearing surface. A groove is formed either in the first or in the second bearing surface to receive a seal. A second clamping surface is formed in the socket at an axial distance from the second bearing surface in which a number of ring wedge-shaped tensioning members which are distributed over the circumference and are disposed such that first wedge surfaces abut the first clamping surface and second wedge surfaces abut the second clamping surface.
Abstract:
The printing press for producing newspapers includes several unwinders from which coldset webs can be unreeled, coldset printing couples for printing the coldset webs with coldset inks, coldset formers and a coldset folder for processing the coldset webs into longitudinally and transversely folded coldset signatures. The printing press also includes an additional unwinder from which a heatset web can be unreeled, heatset printing couples for printing the heatset web with heatset inks, a dryer for drying the printed heatset web, a heatset former and a heatset folder for processing the heatset web into a longitudinally and transversely folded heatset signature. Finally, a processing device processes the heatset signature into a magazine.
Abstract:
An optoelectronic sensor includes optoelectronic converter elements having photosensitive surfaces arranged in a one or two dimensional array. A transparent cover protects the photosensitive surfaces of the optoelectronic converter elements. At least one portion of the transparent cover is shaped to include a light deflecting element such as a prism which enables the optoelectronic converter elements to be exposed to light beams coming from different directions.
Abstract:
Semiconductors for resistive gas sensors or resistive semiconductor gas sensors with high speed of reaction are disclosed. These semiconductors are appropriate to measure the partial pressure of oxygen and reducing gases in any predetermined measurement range between 10.sup.-30 and about 1 bar or in the whole of this measurement range, their resistance changes being caused by a volume effect. In particular, these semiconductors have a layer less than 100 .mu.m thick, predetermined geometric structure and clearly marked marginal zones. A specially doped semiconductor composed of perowskit having the general formula A'.sub.x A.sub.1-x-Z1 B'.sub.y B.sub.1-y-Z2 O.sub.3 is applied on a substrate with a paste of an organic base material by a thick film technique. By adding or removing at least one element or by using two different semiconductors the characteristic curve is clearly traced.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a dual-gas Raman sensor is provided that is based on an enhanced spontaneous dual emission as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamic effects. The dual-gas sensor includes a first reflector that exhibits a high reflectivity near the Raman shifted emission for the first species of interest and a moderate reflectivity near the Raman shifted emission for the second species of interest and a second reflector that exhibits a high reflectivity near the Raman shifted emission for the first species of interest and a moderate reflectivity near the Raman shifted emission for the second species of interest, allowing for the simultaneous measurement of the density of both the first species of interest and the second species of interest.
