Abstract: A process for the production of highly carbonaceous material, including combining a structured precursor including fibres and an unstructured precursor, in the form of a fluid, wherein the fluid has a viscosity of less than 45,000 mPa·s−1 at the temperature at which the combination step occurs, and including at least a cyclic organic or aromatic compound in the molten state, or in solution at a concentration by weight of less than or equal to 65%, in order to obtain a combined precursor corresponding to the structured precursor covered by the unstructured precursor, wherein the process further includes step of thermal and dimensional stabilization of the combined precursor in order to obtain fibres covered with a cyclic organic or aromatic compound deposit, and a step of carbonization of the fibres covered with a cyclic organic or aromatic compound deposit in order to obtain a highly carbonaceous material.

Abstract: The present invention proposes a process for purifying raw carbon nanotubes to obtain an content in metallic impurities comprised between 5 ppm and 200 ppm. The process includes an increase in the bulk density of the raw carbon nanotubes via compacting to produce compacted carbon nanotubes. The process further includes sintering the compacted carbon nanotubes by undergoing thermal treatment under gaseous atmosphere in order to remove at least a portion of the metallic impurities contained in the raw carbon nanotubes, and consequently producing purified carbon nanotubes. These purified carbon nanotubes are directly usable as electronic conductors serving as basis additive to an electrode material without requiring any subsequent purification step. The electrode material can then be used to manufacture an electrode destined to a lithium-ion battery.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an active material suitable for the production of an electrode, in particular an electrode for a Li—S battery. The active material according to the invention comprises carbon nanofillers homogeneously dispersed in the substance of a sulphur material, the active material being obtainable according to a method involving melting in the presence of intense mechanical energy. The quantity of carbon nanofillers in the active material represents 1 to 25% by weight with respect to the total weight of the active material. The active material according to the invention allows an improvement in the electronic conductivity of the formulation of the electrode. Another aspect of the invention is the use of the active material in an electrode, in particular in a Li—S battery cathode.
