    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for handling a handover in a more efficient way. The invention relates to a method in a mobility controller (180) in a radio access network for preparing a handover. The method comprises the following steps to be taken during data transmission between a mobile terminal (140) and a source base station (120), before the handover: Sending a request to a candidate base station (122), which request aims at measuring and reporting timing alignment to be used by the mobile terminal (140) when communicating with the destination base station (122) after the handover, if the candidate base station becomes the destination base station (122) after the handover; receiving a report from the destination base station (122) comprising said requested timing alignment; and when the destination base station (122) is selected among the at least one candidate base stations, sending a message to the mobile terminal (140) to use said timing alignment received from the destination base station (122) when communicating with the destination base station (122) after the handover.

    摘要: A user equipment performs downlink measurement on neighbour cells, but the measurement performance on a target cell (in terms of measurement period/sampling/accuracy etc) is dependent on the relative performance difference between the target cell and a reference cell. The reference cell may be the serving cell, or may be the strongest cell. The network is thus able to keep track of the required number of target cells without degrading the measurement performance of important cells. The UE on the other hand is still able to save its battery as much as possible while making full use of DRX.

    摘要: The present invention relates to methods and devices for mobility management in a cellular communications system. A user equipment maintains (21) at least two sets of mobility trigger parameters. Each set of mobility trigger parameters corresponds to a predetermined user equipment speed range. The user equipment determines (22) a speed range that the speed of the user equipment falls into and selects (23), based on the determined speed range, at least one set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing mobility-based decisions. If the user equipment is in connected mode a network base station may select a set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing handover decisions based on a determined speed range of the user equipment. Advantages are that ping-pong mobility decisions may be avoided and it is sufficient to determine a range for the UE speed, which is less complicated than determining an accurate speed of the UE particularly in idle mode.

    摘要: In a radio communication network there are a number of radio base stations, at least one of which belongs to a first radio access network and manages at least one active cell serving user equipment. It is determined whether a passive other cell of a radio base station belonging to a second overlapping radio access network should be activated based on information representative of radio access preferences of the user equipment (S1). When it is determined that the passive other cell should be activated, the passive cell is requested to be activated by causing the corresponding radio base station belonging to the second overlapping radio access network to start transmission of cell-defining information (S2).
