摘要: The present invention relates to mutant strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum that are characterized in an increased nitrogen fixation rate and an altered molybdenum metabolism. The mutant strains require higher levels of molybdate than wild-type Bradyrhizobium japonicum for expression of nitrate reductase activity. In addition, the mutant strains express free-living nitrogenase activity in medium treated to remove molybdate, where the wild-type require molybdate supplementation.
