    摘要: The present invention is, in an optical head tracking error detecting apparatus in which a laser beam from a semiconductor laser element (1) is introduced into a diffraction grating (3), a 0-order beam and .+-.1st-order beams emitted from the diffraction grating (3) are introduced through a beam splitter (4) to an objective lens (5), a 0-order beam and .+-.1st-order beams of converged beams which are introduced into an optical recording medium (6) and reflected on the optical recording medium (6) are passed through the objective lens (5), reflected on the reflection surface of the beam splitter (4), and then introduced into a photodetector (7), a pair of photo-detection outputs corresponding to said .+-.1st order beams are obtained from the photodetector (7) and on the basis of the difference between the pair of photo-detection outputs, there is generated a tracking error signal corresponding to the tracking state of the 0-order beam on the optical recording medium (6), to provide a pair of positive lenses (9) and (10) between the semiconductor laser element (1) and the diffraction grating (3) and a light shielding member (11) between the pair of positive lenses (9) and (10) to pass therethrough a central beam of the central beam and both side beams which are reflected on the optical recording medium (6), passed through the objective lens (5), the beam splitter (4) and the diffration grating (3) and directed to the semiconductor laser element (1) but to shield the both side beams, whereby to generate a tracking error signal which is not changed by the change of a tangential skew angle of the 0-order beam of an optical head OH relative to the optical recording medium (6).

    摘要: An optical pickup apparatus of the present invention for reading out information signals recorded on an optical recording medium such as magneto-optical disc is adapted to split by means of a light splitting element a light beam emitted from a light source into two light beam travelling in different directions, which are linearly polarized in normally intersecting directions and to convert the phases of the vibrational components along normally intersecting two axes on a plane normally intersecting the traveling directions of the two light beams and to irradiate the recording medium with two light beams which are differently polarized so that two beam spots are partially superimposed with each other on the recording medium. The superimposed beam spot area which is a read out area is made smaller than one of the beam spots in size so that a high resolution read-out is performed.

    摘要: A laser beam in the ultraviolet region is generated at high power for along period. A green laser beam generated by a laser oscillator comes incident into a resonator from behind a first curved mirror, and circulates there, reflected by each mirror. By passing a barium borate crystal, it causes a secondary harmonic (a laser beam in the ultraviolet region) to be generated, which is taken out of the resonator via a second curved mirror. The beam waist of the laser beam passing the barium borate crystal is set to 46 &mgr;m, about double the conventional thickness, by adjusting the distance between the first curved mirror and a second flat mirror. As a result, the power density of the laser beam in the barium borate crystal is reduced to ¼ of the value according to the related art, and it is made possible to avoid rapid degradation of the barium borate crystal by excessive squeezing of the laser beam.

    摘要: A measurement method and a measurement apparatus for measuring the structure of a micro-structure or the structure along the depth of an object for measurement. The laser light from a solid-state laser light source is subjected to wavelength conversion to generate the ultraviolet laser light, and measurement is made of the object for measurement by heterodyne detection or homodyne detection employing the ultraviolet laser light. This enables measurement of a structure of a micro-structure. Alternatively, the laser light is split into multiple laser light beams and frequency shifted so that the laser light beams will be of different frequencies. The laser light beams are imaged at respective different focal point positions to perform heterodyne detection. The resulting heterodyne signals are separated into respective frequency bands and measurement is made of the structure of the object for measurement in association with the respective imaging points. This enables measurement of the structure of the object for measurement in the direction along its depth.
