    摘要: A polarizing beam splitter (21) is secured in a state wherein a bottom plate (2102) thereof contacts closely with an upper face of a substrate (16) and a light receiving element (23) without a gap left therebetween. A quarter-wave plate (17) is attached to the polarizing beam splitter in a state wherein a lower face (1702) thereof contacts closely with an upper face (2104) without a gap left therebetween such that the lengthwise directions and the widthwise directions of them coincide with each other. An objective lens plate (18) is attached in a state wherein a lower face (1806) thereof contacts closely with an upper face (1704) of the quarter-wave plate without a gap left therebetween. A light source (22) is bonded at a mount member (22B) thereof to the upper face of the substrate by means of a bonding agent or the like such that an emitting face of a semiconductor laser (22A) and a front face of the mount member contact closely with a portion of a side face (2106) of the polarizing beam splitter without a gap left therebetween.

    摘要: The influence of dust is reduced to prevent degradation of the recording and reproduction performances of an optical head apparatus and an information processing apparatus which use a flying slider. The optical head apparatus includes a slider (28) for being flown by an air flow produced by rotation of a disk-type recording medium. Parallel rail elements (28A, 28B) are formed along the direction of the air flow on an opposing face of the slider to the disk-type recording medium. Another rail element (29) is formed in the middle between the two rail elements, and beam light condensed by an objective lens passes through the rail element (29) formed from a transparent material. Even if a foreign particle flows into a gap between the slider and the disk-type recording medium, the optical influence of the foreign particle is less likely to be exerted.

    摘要: An optical pickup apparatus is disclosed which can be formed in a minimized thickness while realizing improvement in focusing servo performance, improvement in heat radiation, reduction of the voltage, reduction in number of parts, and reduction of the cost. A swing arm having an optical pickup includes an optical pickup base plate formed from a thin plate member of an iron alloy or a copper alloy, and a hole perforated in the optical pickup base plate is closed up from the opposite sides with a silicon substrate and a glass cover to form an enclosed space. An integrated optical pickup unit including a semiconductor laser and an optical system integrated on the silicon substrate is disposed in the enclosed space.

    摘要: An optical element and manufacturing method of the present invention prevent the incidence of light on unnecessary portions of the optical element so that stray light and noise are eliminated. The optical element is configured from at least one substrate having a plurality of lens substrates that have embedded lenses made of a material with a higher refractive index than the at least one substrate. A shielding means limits the optical path so that incident light propagates only within a prescribed optical path formed on a light incidence-side or emission-side surface of one of the lens substrates. In addition, the shielding means is formed from an absorptive or reflective film placed in a region outside the prescribed optical path or through machining the region outside the prescribed optical path.

    摘要: A recording and reproducing apparatus having a holder for holding an inserted cartridge with a recording medium stored therein in which a recording medium is loaded or unloaded at the recording and reproducing position for recording and/or reproducing information as the holder is elevated or lowered, including a drive portion on which the recording medium rests at the recording and reproducing position and driving the recording medium for recording and/or reproduction and an elevating portion having an elevating and lowering operation cam formed on its side portion and elevating or lowering the holder when it is slid in parallel to the direction in which the cartridge is inserted. The elevating portion includes first and second slide members each having cam grooves formed on its side surfaces and the first and second slide members are coupled together with a predetermined clearance such that they can be fine moved relatively, whereby the cartridge with the recording medium stored therein can be loaded and unloaded stably and reliably.
