An actuator arm assembly for a disk drive is disclosed. The actuator arm assembly includes at least two actuator arms, each having a corresponding suspension and read/write head. A one-piece flex cable is attached to the upper or lower surface of each of these actuator arms, and includes at least one preamp. The flex cable provides an electrical interconnection between the read/write heads of these two actuator arms and a drive electronics board. Both of these actuator arms may be detachably interconnected with a spacer via at least one snap-lock type interconnection to allow for a “no tools” assembly/disassembly of the actuator arm assembly.

A third reference hole and spring portion, and a fourth reference hole and spring portion are formed in a flexure. When a first positioning pin of a positioning jig is inserted into the first and third reference holes, the first and third spring portions abut on the first positioning pin, and the load beam and flexure are thereby urged in an axial direction. When a second positioning pin is inserted into the second and fourth reference holes, the second and fourth spring portions abut on the second positioning pin, and the load beam and flexure are thereby urged in the axial direction, and are both positioned.

A magnetic coil actuator which can provide a higher output but maintains the original volume and the same power consumption is disclosed. The coil actuator uses a movable magnetic coil which is adjusted of its shape to meet the magnetic field of a static magnet. The coil is suitably bent to have its two diametric sections falling into the magnetic lines of the magnet, so as to maximize the usage rate of the coil to the magnetic field. Therefore, the coil actuator provides a higher output applicable to a tracking or focusing device of a pickup head, and meets the requirements of high speed optical recording devices.
