Abstract: The present invention relates to a solventborne, pigmented coating composition, which comprises, based on the total amount of the coating composition, 0.02 to 0.75 wt % of at least one copolymer (A), where the copolymer (A) is obtainable by copolymerization of a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers (a) in at least one organic solvent, the mixture of monomers (a) to be polymerized consists of (a1) 10 to 60 mol % of at least one monomer of the formula (I) below where R1=C1 to C4 alkoxy, R2=C1 to C4 alkyl, and m=0 to 2, and also (a2) 40 to 90 mol % of at least one further olefinically unsaturated monomer, and the copolymer (A) possesses a glass transition temperature Tg of at least −30° C. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the coating composition, and to the multicoat paint systems themselves.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a pigmented aqueous coating composition including at least one binder, at least one mono-, di- and/or triglyceride, and at least one silica compound. Further disclosed herein is a method for producing a multicoat paint system by producing a basecoat or two or more directly consecutive basecoats directly on a substrate optionally coated with a first coat, producing a clearcoat directly on the basecoat or on the topmost of the two or more basecoats, and then jointly curing the one or more basecoats and the clearcoat. At least one of the basecoat materials includes the aqueous coating composition disclosed herein. Additionally disclosed herein is a multicoat paint system obtainable by the disclosed method.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a copolymer (A) having a glass transition temperature Tg of at least −30° C. obtainable by copolymerization of a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers (a) in at least one organic solvent and in the presence of at least one initiator, where the mixture of monomers (a) to be polymerized comprises (a1) 10 to 60 mol % of at least one monomer of the formula (I) below where R1=C1 to C4 alkoxy, R2=C1 to C4 alkyl, and m=0 to 2, and (a2) 40 to 90 mol % of at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer selected from the group consisting of monomers of the formulae H2C═CH2—(C═O)—O—Rx, H2C═CH(CH3)—(C═O)—O—Rx, and H2C═CH2—O—(C═O)—Rx, where Rx is an alkyl radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and where the sum total of the molar fractions of the monomers (a1) and (a2), based on the total molar amount of monomers (a) used, is at least 90 mol %, and where the copolymerization is carried out at a temperature from 60 to 200° C. and at a pressure of at least 2 bar.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an aqueous coating composition including an anionically stabilized binder,a color pigment, a polycarboxylic acid, and optionally a solvent. Further disclosed is a method for producing an inventive aqueous coating composition by adding a solution of polycarboxylic acid in a solvent to a coating composition including an anionically stabilized binder and color pigment.Additionally disclosed is a method for producing a multicoat paint system by producing a basecoat layer or at least two directly consecutive basecoat layers directly on a substrate optionally coated with a first coating layer, producing a clearcoat layer directly on the basecoat layer or the topmost basecoat layer, and jointly curing the basecoat layer(s) and the clearcoat layer.
