Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aqueous coating composition (A) comprising at least one cathodically depositable binder (A1) and optionally at least one crosslinking agent (A2), for at least partly coating an electrically conductive substrate with an electrocoat material, where the coating composition (A) has a pH in a range from 4.0 to 6.5 and comprises a total amount of at least 30 ppm of bismuth, based on the total weight of the coating composition (A), and where (A) is produced using at least 0.005% by weight of magnesium oxide particles (B), based on the total weight of the coating composition (A), to the use of (A) for at least partly coating an electrically conductive substrate with an electrocoat material, to a corresponding coating method, and to an at least partly coated substrate obtainable by this method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a pigment paste by mixing at least one pigment, consisting of solid particles, with a grind resin in the presence of water and/or an organic liquid, wherein the grind resin comprises a dispersion of core-shell particles in an epoxide prepolymer which is liquid at 20° C., or consists of such a dispersion, and the core-shell particles have a silicone core and a polymer shell. The invention also relates to an aqueous electrocoat material, to the use thereof, to a method for cataphoretic electrocoating, and to a coated article.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an aqueous coating composition including an anionically stabilized binder,a color pigment, a polycarboxylic acid, and optionally a solvent. Further disclosed is a method for producing an inventive aqueous coating composition by adding a solution of polycarboxylic acid in a solvent to a coating composition including an anionically stabilized binder and color pigment.Additionally disclosed is a method for producing a multicoat paint system by producing a basecoat layer or at least two directly consecutive basecoat layers directly on a substrate optionally coated with a first coating layer, producing a clearcoat layer directly on the basecoat layer or the topmost basecoat layer, and jointly curing the basecoat layer(s) and the clearcoat layer. At least one of the basecoat materials includes the aqueous coating composition disclosed herein and/or an aqueous coating prepared by the disclosed method. A multicoat paint system obtainable by the method is additionally disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to aqueous binder dispersions for cationic electrocoat materials, comprising as binders amine-modified, hydroxy-functional epoxy resins and comprising as crosslinker at least one fully blocked polyisocyanate blocked at least partly with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol, and also to the use of such cationic electrocoat materials for producing coating systems and to the use of crosslinkers based on polyisocyanates blocked with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol in aqueous binder dispersions.
