Abstract: A transducer suspension element is presented. The transducer suspension element includes a suspension member having a body, the body having a main portion, a first portion extending from the main portion and continuing to an outer edge, and a second portion extending from the main portion and continuing to an inner edge. At least one conductor is disposed within or on the suspension member body, the at least one conductor extending at least within a section of the first portion and within a section of the second portion of the suspension member, and wherein a length of the at least one conductor of the suspension member is greater than a minimal distance from the inner edge to the outer edge across the suspension member.

Abstract: An earphone includes a loudspeaker, a microphone, a housing supporting the loudspeaker and microphone, and ear tip surrounding the housing and configured to acoustically couple both the loudspeaker and the microphone to an ear canal of a user, and to acoustically close the entrance to the user's ear canal. A processor provides output audio signals to the loudspeaker, receives input audio signals from the microphone, extracts a rate of respiration from the input audio signals, adjusts the output audio signals based on the extracted rate of respiration, and provides the adjusted output audio signals to the loudspeaker.

The at least one action may control another device, in an effort to provide hands-free control of the other device.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for obtaining biological information associated with a user, comprising receiving electrical signals via a first electrode on an ear tip of an earpiece inserted in an ear of the user, receiving electrical signals via a second electrode on an external portion of the earpiece, and deriving an electrocardiogram (ECG) based on the signals received via the first electrode and the second electrode. Aspects also provide a method for determining a pulse travel time (PTT) associated with a user, comprising obtaining a proximal signal using an earpiece inserted in of the user, obtaining a distal signal using the earpiece, and deriving the PTT based on the obtained proximal signal and the obtained distal signal.

Abstract: An earphone includes a loudspeaker, a microphone, a housing supporting the loudspeaker and microphone, and an ear tip surrounding the housing and configured to acoustically couple both the loudspeaker and the microphone to an ear canal of a user, and to acoustically close the entrance to the user's ear canal. A processor receives input audio signals from the microphone, detects peaks having a frequency of around 1 Hz in the input audio signals, based on the detected peaks, computes an instantaneous heart rate, measures a frequency of an oscillation within the instantaneous heart rate, and based on the frequency of the oscillation, computes a rate of respiration.
