Abstract: Provide are a rubber composition which is excellent in an initial adhesive property and a hygrothermal adhesive property with metals, a rubber-metal composite suited to rubber articles such as tires for automobiles, industrial belts and the like to which a strength is required, and a production method for the same. The metal cord-rubber composite of the present invention is prepared by coating a metal cord with a rubber composition, wherein an N atom on a surface of the metal cord accounts for 2 atomic % or more and 60 atomic % or less, and a Cu/Zn ratio is 1 or more and 4 or less.

Abstract: This disclosure is to provide a brass-plated steel wire for reinforcing a rubber article, which is capable of improving the initial adhesiveness, heat-resistant adhesiveness and initial adhesion rate. This disclosure is a brass-plated steel wire for reinforcing a rubber article, wherein: when measured with XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), an outermost surface contains zinc at an amount of 4.8 atom % or less, phosphorus at an amount of 0.5 atom % or more, and oxygen at an amount of 50 atom % or less; and in the outermost surface, an atomic ratio of copper to zinc is 1 to 6.

Abstract: A rubber composition comprises: a rubber component; 0.01 parts by mass or more of a rubber-metal adhesion promoter per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, the rubber-metal adhesion promoter containing at least one selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid metal salt (1) having a carbon number of 2 to 25 and a metal species selected from the group consisting of bismuth, copper, antimony, silver, niobium, and zirconium and a compound (2) represented by formula (A); and 4,4′-diphenylmethanebismaleimide. The use of the rubber composition enables obtainment of vulcanized rubber having 10 good deterioration resistance, excellent durability, and excellent rubber-metal thermal deterioration adhesiveness.

Abstract: The rubber composition of the present invention is prepared by mixing a rubber component (A), zinc oxide (B), and a co-condensate (C) having a softening point of 150° C. or lower and containing a p-tert-butylphenol-derived constituent unit represented by the following formula (1), an o-phenylphenol-derived constituent unit represented by the following formula (2) and a resorcinol-derived constituent unit represented by the following formula (3), wherein the nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) of the zinc oxide (B) measured according to the BET method is 6 m2/g or more and 110 m2/g or less, the mixing amount of the zinc oxide (B) is 5 parts by mass or more and 13 parts by mass or less based on 100 parts by mass of the rubber component (A), and the mixing amount of the co-condensate (C) is 0.1 parts by mass or more and 10 parts by mass or less based on 100 parts by mass of the rubber component (A). The co-condensate (C) is usable as a replacement for p-tert-octylphenol and p-nonylphenol, has a softening point lower than the maximum temperature in a rubber processing step, and has excellent dispersibility in rubber.
