摘要: Methods and apparatus for estimating interference level in a receiver are dominated by the receiver's residual frequency error when the interference is low. The interference estimation method can be changed when the interference is low such that it compensates for the effects of residual frequency errors. A method of estimating an interference level includes the steps of detecting an interference level of the received signal; determining whether the detected interference level is low; and if the detected interference level is low, estimating the interference level by at least one of estimating in only a radial direction and de-rotating the received signal before estimating the interference level.

摘要: A method in a communication device and a communication device (100) for adapting a transmission of data are provided. The transmission is transferred from a first chip (110) to a second chip (120) over a chip-to-chip interface (104, 304). The chip-to-chip-interface comprises a wired connection between the first chip and the second chip which is comprised in the communication device. The communication device receives (201) the radio signal (330), comprising the transmission of data from another communication device. The communication device determines (202), from the 204 received radio signal (330), modulation and coding information, which is used for determining (203) a channel quality. Further, the communication device (100) adapts (204) the transmission of data based on the determined channel quality of the received radio signal (330) in such way that at least the determined channel quality is obtained when transferring (205) the transmission of data over the chip-to-chip interface to the second chip.

摘要: A user equipment (UE) in a mobile communications system is operated in a manner that alleviates or avoids an overload condition in the UE. This involves operating a receiver of the UE to receive one or more data blocks via a channel. In response to a user equipment overload condition being detected, a channel quality indicator (CQI) value is reported to a serving base station, wherein the reported CQI value represents a channel quality that is lower than an actual quality of the channel. The UE is then operated in a manner that is consistent with the reported CQI value. UE overload conditions include overheating, and an inability to process received data blocks at the rate at which they are being received.

摘要: A method of scheduling wireless data transmissions between a mobile terminal and a base station using multiple system carrier signals is disclosed. The method comprises receiving (101) in the mobile terminal information from the base station indicating available system carriers and transmitting from the mobile terminal information indicating the terminal's capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers; detecting (102) at least one dynamic parameter indicative of the terminal's current capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers; determining (103) from the dynamic parameter whether a situation has occurred in which the terminal's capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers has changed; transmitting (104), in such case, a connection release request to the base station; and transmitting (105) a connection setup request and information indicating the terminal's changed capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers to the base station. Thus system carriers that can be handled by the terminal in the present situation can be allocated.

摘要: A method of performing cell measurements in a telecommunications system. The method includes the steps of receiving a signal by a user equipment (UE) operating within the telecommunications system and served by a serving cell, storing the received signal in a buffer, and determining a first portion of the signal related to the serving cell and a second portion related to neighbor (NB) cells. The first portion of the signal is decoded by the Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) and the signal strength is estimated by a measurement unit coupled to the FFT. Next, any approximately synchronized NB cell signals in the second portion of the signal are then decoded and a signal strength is estimated. It is then determined if sufficient time remains to process unsynchronized NB cell signals of the second portion of the signal. If it is determined that sufficient time remains, the second portion of the signal is played back and decoded using the FFT and a signal strength of any unsynchronized NB cell signals of the second portion of the received signal is estimated.

摘要: Methods and devices in a wireless communication system are provided, in which a first portion and a second portion of signals are transmitted on a physical channel to a first transceiver from a second transceiver. A method for controlling transmission parameters in the wireless communication system comprises the steps of: transmitting an indication indicating that the first and the second receiver processing algorithms are used in the first transceiver to process the first and second portions, respectively, of signals received on the physical channel; receiving the indication at the second transceiver; and adjusting, at the second transceiver in response to the indication, a transmission parameter for at least one of the first and second portions of signals to be transmitted on the physical channel to the first transceiver. The indication could be transmitted from the first transceiver, or it could be determined through evaluations carried out at the second transceiver.

摘要: A method and apparatus for providing handover between carriers of different duplex frequency separation distances is provided. A mobile terminal is configured to operate in both fixed and variable duplex. The ability operate with unpaired up-link and down-link frequency carrier pairs, when necessary, makes it possible to significantly increase the spectrum utilization (capacity) in a cellular system using asymmetric up-link and down-link for example in WCDMA systems.
