    摘要: The invention relates to a plastic heat exchanger (1), in particular for automotive applications, having an inlet tank (2) which has an inlet (5) for a first fluid and surrounds an inlet chamber (6), having an outlet tank (3) which has an outlet (7) for the first fluid and surrounds an outlet chamber (8), having multiple plastic tubes (4) which are tightly connected to the inlet tank (2) and to the outlet tank (3) and connect the inlet chamber (6) to the outlet chamber (8) so they communicate with one another and around which a second fluid flows during operation.To improve the heat transfer, at least some of the plastic tubes (4) have at least one longitudinal section (9) in which ring-shaped areas (13) having variable cross sections follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the tube.

    摘要: An intercooler comprises a plurality of plastic cooling tubes extending between a first end plate and a second end plate and a baffle arranged in the intercooler and extending at least partially between the first end plate and the second end plate. The baffle comprises a plurality of first openings for receiving a respective plastic cooling tube, the baffle further comprising a plurality of second openings arranged between the first openings. The second openings permit air to flow through the intercooler whilst creating turbulence in the air flow which increase the thermal transfer between the air and the tubes increasing the efficiency of the intercooler.

    摘要: An active noise cancellation system (26) for controlling engine noise propagation through a vehicle induction system (32) is customizable to achieve a desired engine noise profile. A controller (34) of the active noise cancellation system drives a speaker (36) to generate a noise cancellation sound in a manner consistent with an individual's indicated preference for a specific type of available engine noise profile. By customizing how the speaker is driven, the system customizes the resulting engine noise heard in the passenger compartment. In one example, the system is customizable using a hand held communication device (24) such as a cell phone, a personal digital assistant or a so-called palm top computer. In another example, a resident communication bus on the vehicle is accessed through a user communication interface (28) supported on the vehicle.

    摘要: An electric vehicle control system controls motor response based upon monitored vehicle characteristics to provide consistent vehicle performance under a variety of conditions for a given accelerator manipulation. In one example, motor temperature is monitored. As the temperature increases, the gain of a power signal provided to the motor is increased to make up for the motor's hindered performance under higher temperature conditions. Other vehicle characteristics that are taken into account include a charge level in a fuel cell or current vehicle speed and engine load.

    摘要: An air induction system for a vehicle engine includes a sensor assembly for monitoring particulate concentration. The sensor assembly is mounted within an air intake housing, which has an inlet and an outlet. An airflow passageway extends between the inlet and the outlet to the vehicle engine. An air filter is mounted within the housing to filter particulates from air flowing through the airflow passageway. The sensor assembly can be mounted to an intake manifold or incorporated into a mass airflow sensor. The particulate sensor generates a particulate signal representative of particulate concentration entering the vehicle engine via the outlet. The signal is sent to an output device monitored by a vehicle operator.

    摘要: In a molded intake manifold/fuel rail, a through-passage for the conveyance of combustion air is created by disposing two separably engaged core parts of the mold to occupy the entirety of the through-passage during the molding process. After molded material has solidified, the core parts are separated in generally opposite, but non-colinear directions. During the molding process, one core part occupies the entire length of the through-passage along a certain circumferential extent of the through-passage while along another circumferential extent, both core parts conjointly occupy the entire length of the through-passage.

    摘要: The injector is mechanically retained in the molded composite socket member by an annular cap that is threaded onto the end of the socket member containing the end of the through-bore into which the injector was inserted. The sidewall of the cap contains an internal helical thread that threads to an external helical thread on the exterior of the socket member. The cap stiffens the socket wall at the thread to strengthen the socket wall against circumferential expansion caused by the pressure of fuel in an annular space that surrounds the injector interior of the socket through-bore. A method for making the cap and joining it to the socket member is also disclosed.
