摘要: Methods for therapy of cystic fibrosis and other conditions are provided. The methods comprise one or more agents capable of increasing thiol-containing compound transport via a transporter system (i.e. ABC transporters such as MDR-1 or MRP-2) in cells. Other embodiments include the use of agents to modulate transport of thiol-containing compounds within the cell. Therapeutic methods involve the administration of such agents to a patient afflicted with cystic fibrosis and/or another condition responsive to stimulation of thiol-containing compound transport.

摘要: The present invention concerns methods and compositions for making and using Be complexes of defined compositions, which may have multiple functionalities and/or binding specificities. In various embodiment, Beryllium (Be) complexes may include Be such as 10Be and 7Be complexes. Such complexes find use in a wide variety of applications, particularly in the field of treatment, detection and/or diagnosis of infections, diseases and other health-related conditions, including but not limited to cancer, autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, metabolic diseases, degenerative diseases, and organ transplant rejection. In addition, a Be complex may be used in a BeLPT assay

摘要: A wastewater treatment system, including: an equalization tank arranged to receive wastewater; a flow tube including an interior space bounded by at least one side wall of the flow tube; a plurality of media particles disposed within the interior space; and a pump arranged to pump the wastewater from the equalization tank to the flow tube. The plurality of media particles has a mean diameter of at least 4 millimeters. The wastewater is arranged to drain to the equalization tank through the plurality of media particles and the interior space. The flow tube is arranged to reduce a concentration of an organic contaminant in the wastewater.

摘要: The present invention relates to a novel species of Enterobacter, Enterobacter sp. 638, and to its use in connection, for example, with a method for increasing growth in a plant, increasing biomass in a plant, increasing fruit and/or seed productivity in a plant, increasing disease tolerance and/or resistance in a plant, and increasing drought tolerance and/or resistance in a plant, as compared to a control or wild-type plant grown under identical conditions without application of the inventive method or composition. The methods include applying an effective amount of a composition, which includes an isolated culture of Enterobacter sp. 638, to the plant.

摘要: The present invention provides for methods for detection, diagnosis and prognosis of beryllium-induced disease. In one embodiment, the methods include exposing immune cells from subjects suspected of having beryllium-induced disease to beryllium and assessing the Th-1 cytokines produced. Other embodiments include the use of exposing immune cells from subjects suspected of having beryllium-induced disease to beryllium and assessing Th-1 cytokines produced and using these assessments to indicate the stage of progression of the disease. Therapeutic methods involve assessing the onset or progression of beryllium-induced disease before during and after exposure to a treatment for the disease.
