Abstract:
The dispenser dispenses tickets such as instant-winner lottery tickets from a strip in which the individual tickets are delineated by perforation lines. The dispenser includes a separator to tear the tickets apart before issuing them from the machine. The separator preferably is rotary and has a dull helical blade which rotates to contact the ticket strip adjacent a perforation line, and presses against the strip to tear the tickets apart along the perforation line at a point which progresses across the strip along the perforation line. Preferably, a bar code reader is provided for reading codes on tickets in the dispensing machine. The bar code reader is used in reading information from the tickets to initialize the dispenser control system and in accounting for the sale of tickets, and in the verification of winning tickets being sold. A game is provided in which the concept is that a jackpot is built up using the detection of each ticket sold. The mechanism is simplified by using a separator member and transport drive structures which span a plurality of different channels or bins of a multi-channel dispenser. This provides a very compact, simple, secure and low-cost mechanism which is used both in stand-alone ticket vending machines, and in counter-top attended dispensers.
Abstract:
Lottery ticket dispensing housings are provided with a hinged, transparent rear and top cover, a hinged front wall, and a powered ticket drive and separator module. A relatively tall embodiment of the dispenser with a small footprint is fitted onto the countertop of a check-out counter of a retail store. The top of the housing is flat so as to provide a convenient place for customers to write checks with the tickets being displayed immediately below being highly visible to the customer. A display of relatively flat and short dispensers is provided wherein a rack or housing supports the dispensers one a top of the other in a vertical array. The dispensers are shifted laterally with respect to one another so as to give greater viewability of the contents of each of the dispensers to a customer. The length of each dispenser can be decreased with the increasing elevation of the dispenser so as to provide a vertical alignment of the front sides of the dispensers, the side through which tickets are dispensed. A ticket drive and dispensing module is provided which will fit into any of the housings with a minimum of mounting effort or hardware. This relatively flat and short dispenser can also be mounted vertically on a wall or a stand to provide additional convenient installation operations.
Abstract:
A gaming machine is provided for playing several types of games. For example, scratch-off and pull-tab tickets, or scratch-off, pull-tab and lotto tickets can be sold from the same machine. The winnings from one game can be used to create credits in the machine for buying tickets in a different game from the same machine. Preferably, all instant-winner tickets move past transparent windows so they can be seen while being dispensed. A separate/drive module is provided which can be used in a number of different configurations. It has a rotary helical separator member which spans multiple channels to separate tickets in any of the channels. A single drive source in the housing rotates the separate drives in each channel. Preferably, tickets in strips move upwardly past the windows to simplify the dispensing mechanism and the loading of tickets in the machine. An ejector mechanism which reverses the direction of movement of separated tickets to inhibit theft also is provided.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for charging a battery with a finger actuated low mass spinner electromagnetically converts the mechanical spinning energy to the desired battery charging voltage. The charger may be a self-contained portable battery charger unit for use with any of multiple devices containing respective batteries, or it may be a permanent part of such a device. The spinner may be a modified fidget spinner to which a shaft or axle is fixedly attached to rotate about that axis with the spinner and has one or more permanent magnets secured for rotation therewith. Alternatively the spinner may be more like the fidget spinner, without an axle rotating therewith, and having magnets on its rotating arms. In either case, the magnetic fields of the rotating magnets induce voltage in one or more induction coils to generate a battery charging voltage.

Abstract:
A manifold gasket includes a carrier frame with a plurality of media-conveying openings corresponding to openings communicating between two parts to be clamped, such as an intake manifold and a cylinder head. Elastomeric sealing material is molded to the carrier frame about the openings to seal the openings when clamped. A compression limiting device is disposed on the carrier frame and is isolated from direct contact with the carrier frame by intervening elastomeric bonding material to limit compression of said elastomeric sealing material when the gasket is clamped between the head and block. The elastomeric bonding material renders the compression limiting device free-floating relative to the carrier frame.
