    摘要: Dead time compensated complementary pulse width modulation (PWM) signals are derived from a PWM generator by first applying time period compensation to the PWM generator signal based upon the direction of current flow in an inductive load being controlled by the PWM generator. Dead time is then applied to the compensated PWM generator signal for producing complementary dead time compensated PWM signals for controlling power switching circuits driving the inductive load.

    摘要: A fluorescent lamp light intensity dimming control generates a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal at about a fifty percent duty cycle and has very fine frequency change granularity to allow precise and smooth light dimming capabilities. Intermediate PWM signal frequencies between the frequencies that are normally generated from values in a period register of the PWM generator are provided with a variable frequency clock source to the PWM generator. Selection of each frequency from the plurality of frequencies available from the variable frequency clock source may be determined from a value stored in a variable frequency clock register. A microcontroller may be used to select appropriate frequencies for dimming control of the fluorescent lamp from the variable frequency clock source, and the period and duty cycle values used in generating the PWM signal at about a fifty percent duty cycle.

    摘要: Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) is used to control the amount of light from a fluorescent lamp by applying a voltage to the lamp filaments at a low frequency that is approximately at a series resonant frequency of the lamp ballast inductor and the lamp filament capacitor, no voltage and a voltage at a high frequency. The lamp gas ionizes to produce light only when the low frequency voltage is applied. The fluorescent lamp gas does not ionize when the voltage at the high frequency is applied, but the high frequency voltage keeps the lamp filaments warm during low light output conditions. The low frequency, no and high frequency voltages have time periods that occur within a modulation frame time period that repeats continuously. The ratio of the low frequency voltage time period, and the no voltage and/or high frequency voltage time periods determine the light output of the fluorescent lamp.

    摘要: The locking nut and bolt system utilizes a bolt with thread having a plurality of notches generally longitudinally spaced in a predetermined pattern. Each notch has a lock face and an opposing slope. The locking unit carries one or more tines. The tine has a distal tine end adapted to latch onto the lock face of the notch on the bolt and, when the distal tine end is not disposed in one or more notches, the tine end moves on the bolt thread crest. When the distal tine end is in the notch or notches, the lock face of the notch prevents counter-rotational movement of the bolt with respect to the nut when the distal tine end abuts the lock face. The locking unit supports the tine and may be cylindrical, rectangular or on a perpendicular support face normal to a radial plane through the axial centerline of the nut thread. The locking unit may be on a nut insert or may be carried on the leg of a U, J or S-shaped clip. The locking unit may be recessed as a blind hole.

    摘要: A self-locking fastener assembly includes a male screw fastener and a related female component (such as a plastic workpiece) for receiving the male screw fastener; a locking element is mounted on, or integrally formed with, the male screw fastener and provides at least one or more flexible fingers extending radially outwardly. The flexible fingers engage the walls of a cavity in the female component. The cavity walls are provided with a plurality of teeth which reliably engage the flexible fingers to prevent counter-rotation of the male screw fastener out of engagement with the female member. In a preferred embodiment, the male screw fastener is a double ended screw having a lower screw end for screwing into a plastic workpiece, and an upper stud end onto which can be mounted a second workpiece, which is secured by a nut. The lower screw end is preferably left hand threaded, while the upper end is preferably right hand threaded, whereby overtorquing force applied to the male screw fastener when the second workpiece is mounted (by cross-threading of the nut or otherwise) causes the male screw fastener to overcome the locking element and the lower screw end to unscrew from the first workpiece, thus preventing wasteful damage to the first workpiece. In another embodiment, the system can prevent counter-rotation of a nut in a cast or molded boss.
