    摘要: A digital, DC voltage meter device utilized for metering electric power on a locomotive system. This invention will eliminate the need to use a hand held meter to perform these functions. The meter is permanently built into the Voltage test panel, replacing test receptacles with a large 7/10' LED display that can be read day or night. It is designed to operate in temperatures from -32 degrees Fahrenheit to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. A three position spring loaded switch returning to the off position is used to operate the meter. The present invention is a custom DC voltage meter that is capable of measuring two voltage ranges on a locomotive system; 0-1500 Volts ("V") for main generator voltage can be measured when the switch is in the top position; and 0-75 millivolts ("mV") for load test shunt millivoltage can be measured when the switch is in the bottom position. The meter is also capable of displaying the Dynamic Braking Voltage when the locomotive's dynamic brake is engaged.

    摘要: In some embodiment, an arrangement is provided to prevent a loss of data in a memory due to a power failure for a computing system. When the power failure occurs, any pending memory write operations may be completed and dirty cache lines may be flushed back to the memory. Subsequently, the computing system may be put into a loss-prevention state, under which power may be turned off for all components in the computing system except the memory. The memory is powered by a battery pack which includes batteries and is in a self refresh state. When the power returns, applications and operating systems running in the computing system may resume what is left out when the power supply failure occurs, based at least in part on data retained in the memory. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

    摘要: A panic-proof lockset includes a deadbolt and a spring latch. An interior escutcheon supports a knob for operating the spring latch and a second knob for operating the deadbolt. A crank is coupled to the second knob and a slide member is adapted to turn the crank either selectively clockwise or counterclockwise to a position generally corresponding to the open position of the deadbolt. The slide is in tension when acting on the crank to turn the crank to a position generally corresponding to the open position of the deadbolt. A cam means is provided for moving the slide member in response to rotary motion of the knob whereby the deadbolt and the spring latch are simultaneously retracted by turning the knob. This construction enables a user to rotate one knob to simultaneously retract the deadbolt and the spring latch, thereby providing easy exit in a panic situation.

This capability is facilitated by a standard software abstraction for a firmware storage device, known as Firmware Volume (FV) that is managed through a Firmware File System (FFS). The FFS enables firmware files to be created, deleted, and updated individually. The FFS also enables a plurality of firmware files to be updated atomically by managing file state information via state bits stored in a file header of each firmware file, whereby an atomic change to a single state bit simultaneously causes the FFS to use an updated set of firmware files in place of an original set of firmware files.
