Abstract: A system and method for providing engagement of a dog clutch differential on a vehicle are disclosed. The system may comprise a power source, a dog clutch differential, a CVT and a controller. The dog clutch differential may have first and second members and may distribute torque between first and second output shafts. The second member may be moveable between a disengaged and an engaged position. When the second member is in the engaged position, the first and second output shafts may rotate together. The CVT may be configured to receive power from the power source and to provide output torque to the dog clutch differential. The CVT may receive a torque or speed or ratio command that is independent of engine speed. The controller may, in response to an activation trigger, move the second member to the engaged position when the output torque from the CVT is about zero.

The cooling system may also have a sensor configured to generate a temperature signal indicative of a temperature of the intake air and a fan in proximity to the air cooler. The cooling system may further have a controller in communication with the sensor and the fan. The controller may be configured to cause the fan to operate at a speed that is a function of the temperature signal when the temperature of the intake air is above a threshold temperature. The controller may further be configured to selectively cause the fan to pulse when the temperature of the intake air drops below the threshold temperature.

The propulsion system may include a prime mover operatively connected through a continuously variable transmission to a propulsion device. The propulsion system may also include propulsion-system controls that control an operating parameter of the continuously variable transmission, which may include adjusting the operating parameter based on operator input. Controlling the operating parameter may also include determining an adjustment limit for the operating parameter based on one or more operating conditions and applying the adjustment limit to the operating parameter to modify at least one of acceleration and jerk of the machine based on the one or more operating conditions.

Abstract: A transmission system is disclosed as having a transmission configured to receive torque output from a power source and to drive a traction device, and an input device. The transmission system may also have a control module configured to reference a signal from the input device with a map to determine a corresponding speed of the power source, and to determine a margin between an actual and a maximum available torque output of the power source at a current speed. The control module may also be configured to determine a delay time threshold based on the margin, to selectively adjust a speed of the power source mapped to the maximum displaced position of the operator input device based on the margin, and to selectively adjust fueling of the power source at a current displacement position of the operator input device and operation of the transmission based on the signal and the map.
