Abstract:
One or more portions of a streamer or other equipment of a seismic survey system (e.g., birds, buoys, deflectors, etc.) are covered with protective removable skin sections. A protective removable skin section includes a flexible sheet and a reversible closure system configured to join edges of the flexible sheet. The protective removable skin section may be mounted onboard of a vessel, when the equipment is deployed.
Abstract:
Various methods preserve or restore the low roughness throughout an outer shell of a device (e.g., a streamer) used underwater for seismic surveys, by applying various substances that fill micro-cracks, are easy to polish or are self-healing. Apparatuses used to implement these methods may be used shortly before the devices are deployed in water, for example, having the device passing through such an apparatus as it is moved to be deployed in water.
Abstract:
A marine source element is configured to generate seismic waves. The source element includes a body and a source actuator attached to the body and configured to generate the seismic waves. The body is autonomous from a vessel towing streamers along a pre-plot line associated with a seismic survey.
Abstract:
A marine streamer spread for acquiring seismic data, the spread including a streamer having a first portion and a second portion; the first portion including both first pressure sensors and pressure derivative sensors for acquiring the seismic data; and the second portion including second pressure sensors. The first portion imparts ghost diversity to the seismic data by having a variable-depth profile and the pressure derivative sensors impart polarity diversity to the seismic data.
