    摘要: An electric arc discharge lamp comprises a cathode (2), an apertured diaphragm (4) and a cup shaped apertured anode (6). The anode (6) is provided with a flared extension (7) and is mounted on leads passing through ceramic tubes (14) (FIG. 4). The cathode (2) is enclosed in a cup shaped member comprising a cylindrical tube (5) having one end closed by the diaphragm (4). The electrodes are enclosed in a sealed envelope (8) (FIG. 4) which is filled with deuterium. A synthetic quartz window (81) is provided in one end of the envelope to enable ultra-violet radiation from the arc struck between the cathode and anode to pass through.The cathode (2), the aperture (42) in the diaphragm (4) and the aperture (62) in the anode (6) are aligned and lie on the axis of symmetry of the envelope (8). The anode is an efficient heat radiator because of its large surface area and thus works at a lower than normal temperature allowing the use of stainless steel rather than the usual refractory metals.

    摘要: An apparatus (10) wherein extruded strips (98,116) of elastomeric material are fed separately over a cylindrical roller surface (20) at more than one angular position (126,128,130) relative to the roller (18) by a die head (12) to form predetermined cross-sectional areas of the co-extrusion (118). The channels (26,28,36,38) in the die head guide plate (32) connecting the extruders (14,16) and the orifices (30,40) at the roller surface (20) are provided by walls of a replaceable preformer insert (44) which are spaced from the walls of an opening (42) in the guide plate (32). Different sizes and configurations of the channels (26,28,36,38) can be obtained using different preformer inserts (44). The grooves (80,88,90,114,132,134,138,151,152,154) which guide the strips (98,116) of elastomeric material applied to the roller surface (20) are in replaceable finish dies (66,68) mounted in a slot (70) in the cylindrical surface (22) of the die head (12) so that the various laminations and configurations required can be obtained by inserting the desired finish dies (66,68). Different finish dies (66,68) have grooves (80,88,90,114,132,134,138,151,152,154) at different positions to provide the desired overlapping of the applied strips (98,116).

    摘要: An apparatus and method wherein strips of elastomeric material are fed separately onto a roller at more than one position around the circumference of the roller at predetermined axial locations to form predetermined cross-sectional areas of the cross section of the band. Between the positions where the strips are applied and prior to removing the band from the roller, guide means is provided to guide the strips in the predetermined axial locations. The guide means confines the strips between a circumferentially grooved guide member and the cylindrical surface and the grooved guide member may be a replaceable insert mounted in a recess of a plate for accommodating different sizes and shapes of the formed band with different inserts.
