    摘要: A stream cipher is provided with one or more data bit generators to generate a first, second and third set of data bits. The stream cipher is further provided with a combiner function having a network of shuffle units to combine the third set of data bits, using the first and second sets of data bits as first input data bits and control signals respectively of the network of shuffle units. In one embodiment, the shuffle units are binary shuffle units and they are serially coupled to one another.

    摘要: A caching apparatus and method for enhancing retrieval of data from an optical storage device are provided. The apparatus preferably includes a first memory device for storing data therein. The first memory device preferably includes a predetermined application. An optical storage device is positioned in communication with the first memory device for optically storing data therein. The optical storage device includes a plurality of data storage sectors. A second memory device is positioned in communication with the first memory device for storing data. The second memory device preferably has a predetermined amount of data storage space. The predetermined amount of data storage space includes a caching space defined by only a portion of the predetermined amount of data storage space of the second memory device. A caching engine is positioned in communication with the first memory device, the second memory device, and the optical storage device for temporarily storing data from the data storage sectors in the caching space and thereby providing a quick transfer of the data to the first memory device for use by the predetermined application. An event script is provided positioned in communication with the caching engine to direct the caching engine to transfer data sectors from the optical data storage device to the caching space in advance of being actually needed for the predetermined application of the first memory device.

A wireless I/O device is coupled to the kneeboard controller and adapted to facilitate wireless communication between the kneeboard interface device and the avionics suite controller. A display device is coupled to the kneeboard controller and adapted to display to the pilot avionics suite controller information received from the avionics suite controller. An input device coupled to the kneeboard controller is adapted to receive a pilot response to displayed avionics suite controller information. The pilot response is transmitted to the avionics suite controller by the wireless I/O device to control the avionics suite.

    摘要: This invention relates to the design and application of a goniectomy instrument for the purpose of diagnostically and therapeutically removing tissue from the anterior chamber angle of the eye and for retrieving this tissue for further examination. The surgical instrument of this invention comprises in combination: a hollow, tapered shaft having a cutting edge at one end as an integral part thereof; a retractable stylet contained within the hollow interior of the tapered shaft; and an irrigation port running along the outside of the tapered shaft. This instrument is useful for excising tissue to relieve an obstruction blocking the outflow of aqueous humor from the eye as well as for providing specimens of the excised tissue for histopathological examination.

    摘要: A negative stiffness device and method for seismic protection of a structure is described. In one embodiment, the device has an anchor frame and a movement frame laterally translatable relative to the anchor frame. The anchor frame and movement frame have respective extension portions. A linkage is pivotably connected to the extension portion of the anchor frame. A compressed spring has a first end is attached to the extension portion of the movement frame and a second end attached to the linkage. The compressed spring has a spring force. In a rest state, the compressed spring does not apply a lateral force to the movement frame. In an engaged state, the compressed spring is configured to apply a lateral force to displace the movement frame in a lateral direction of a seismic load. The spring force is amplified by the linkage when the movement frame is laterally displaced to an amplification point.
