摘要： A point of sale transaction terminal having a flat wall surface containing a signature capture pad and further includes electrical lead lines that surround the capture pad and carry signature related data to an x-y register or the like. A lower cover panel is placed upon a wall that surrounds the capture pad so that the panel physically covers the lead lines. The lower cover panel is secured to the wall surface by a relatively strong bonding material which provides a tight seal between the panel and the wall surface which prevents water and dirt from passing beneath the panel. An upper cover panel having a protective window that is mounted within a frame is placed in registration over the lower cover panel so that the window is centered over the capture pad. The upper cover panel is releasably secured to the lower cover panel by an adhesive so that the upper panel can be easily removed from the assembly and replaced in the event the protective window is worn or damaged.

摘要： A point of sale transaction terminal that has a signature capture pad mounted within a platen that is recessed within the top surface of the terminal housing. A screen protector is mounted over the signature pad and is registered thereon so that the protector covers the signature pad. A bezel is mounted upon said platen within the recess of the housing so that the bezel surrounds the periphery of the protector and the capture pad. A latching mechanism is located beneath the bezel which serves to removably secure the bezel to the platen. An access port is provided in said housing that allows restricted access to the latching mechanism for unlatching the bezel.

摘要： The invention is an apparatus configured to provide self-alignment in use when measuring the print quality of an encoded indicium. The apparatus is configured to exclude ambient light, and to align an encoded indicium located at a first aperture defined in a first surface of the apparatus with an imager positioned at a second aperture defined in a second surface of the apparatus. A source of illumination is provided to illuminate the encoded indicium during an interval when the encoded indicium is undergoing a verification process. An illumination control is provided to control the source of illumination. The apparatus can be controlled using a computer and a computer program recorded on a machine-readable medium.

摘要： A transaction terminal (10) having a touch screen (20) disposed in a recess (30) in the terminal housing (12) includes an adaptor (25) for facilitating use of the touch screen by persons that are vision-impaired, hearing-impaired or dexterity-challenged. The adaptor (25) is selectively positionable in operative engagement with the touch screen (20). The adaptor (25) includes an insert (50) and a keypad (60, 160, 260). The insert (50) is supported on terminal housing (12) with deck (52) disposed over and in spaced relationship to the touch screen. The deck (52) has at least one discrete opening therethrough. The keypad includes at least one key juxtaposed relative to said least one discrete opening in said deck of the insert. Upon depression of the key, contact is made with a selected portion of the touch screen (20).

摘要： An ergonomically designed transactional terminal according to the invention in one embodiment includes a housing having a top portion partially defined by a touch screen, a base, and an enlarged head portion extending forwardly from the base to define a lip. An insert style card reader having horizontally oriented feed slot opening toward the front of the housing is disposed in the lip of the housing. The feed slot may be angled downward slightly to reduce build up in the slot and to encourage a sweeping action by a card during card removal. The touch screen may be angled downward in coplanar relationship with the feed slot to improve visibility of the touch screen and to improve simultaneous observation of touch screen and card indicia.
